Best tablet

Is it not stretched on an X2 button?

Or have they made it native for the iPad now too?

As I’ve never had any apple product before this iPad mini 5 I have no idea, I only got the iPad mini as I had so many problems finding a Samsung or android that would run the fly app but now I fly my mavic mini with the fly app and my mavic 2 pro with the go fly app on here , no problem downloading and running both apps and the both work like a dream

I use a ipad mini 4 with network sim just so maps are in view without having to download them but I also use a nvidia k1 tablet without sim network and that also works good , just look out for a tablet with built in GPS they are plenty out there . But my opinion is ipad mini 4 seems to be best and I have had no problems what so ever .

I’ve used 2018 Ipad on Inspire 1 and Ipad mini 4 on Mavic’s and Phantom 4 pro also used my Samsung S8.
They all work well with no app problems but screen brightness is a problem with all even with shades imho
I’ve just got the Epson Moverio BT-300 smart glasses and tried them with my P4Pro yesterday.
So far they are the best display I have used by quite a margin!

Hi, I am thinking of buying a tablet to use while flying the Air 2 as I find the brightness on my phone isn’t great and I would prefer the larger screen. Could I get some advice on the best solution for this? I don’t use any apple products so any alternative advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Davey, I’ve moved your post here, loads of useful info, loads of topics on the same question also found through a quick search.

Hi , I have a iPad mini 5 but just for my drone use I have and can highly recommend a Huawei Mediapad M5 Lite , it’s not as heavy as the iPad mini , battery life is amazing and works perfectly with both DJI apps and as a extra plus on Amazon about £100 ish , I’ve had it a few months now and cannot fault it , good screen recording and expandable storage too.

Another vote from me for the Huawei Mediapad M5Lite8. I’ve been using it for nearly a year with most of my flying things; DJI, Parrot, Betaflight, Arduplane, Arducopter, Powervision, Skydroid, and others.

I chose it for its built-in GPS, international WiFi capabilities, and general performance. It’s light weight but sturdily built. The screen is pin sharp and bright, I only had issues in very bright direct sunlight. And as mentioned by @scottydog above the battery life is more than enough for a full days use at maximum screen brightness.

I put a Mat screen protective film on mine and I found it to be good

@Nidge does that tablet allow video transmission at 1080p (HD) or 720p (smooth)?

The screen resolution is 1920p X 1200p and it has no issues playing back any HD content. The limiting factor of streaming video live from your drone will be down to the quality of your RC link. Latency will always be an issue with drones that use a WiFi link but having a suitably fast GPU and CPU, which the M5 has, will reduce this.

I’ve been trying to find some nits brightness values for the M5 as it seems to only be around 430 or so, depending on where I look.

Anyone got an official nits value?

@Nidge cheers. I bought my son the galaxy TAB A7 (2020).

So thought I’d try it with DJI FLY app. Whilst it would link it wouldn’t show any video unless i knocked the transmission to smooth. So looks like I’ll be getting a Huawei Mediapad M5 Lite :+1:

@Doug

I don’t fly anything that uses the DJI Fly APP, I only use DJIGO4, so I can’t comment on its suitability for “Smooth” video transmission.

However I do know that Samsung do install different graphic chipsets depending on region in some of their devices. I had issues with Powervision’s Vision2 APP with my PowerEgg X on my Samsung S8, even though Powervision had it listed as compatible. It turned out that Powervision had tested the Chinese domestic S8 handset. When I pointed this out to them they obtained a European S8 and confirmed the issue was due to a different chipset and made the appropriate changes to the APP.

Hi thanks . Do you use this tablet . Ok will get one thanks John

Samsung S5e here, not actually used it in flight yet due to the great British weather but bought an adapter and modified it so I can either use it on the controller or on a tripod (with a 30cm USB C to C lead) I can stand/sit behind. Nice crisp screen (indoors at least!). DJI FLY seems great and the DJI Go runs and loads ( I use it for my gimbal).
