DJI Cellular dongle (4g / 5g) capability! (for essentially unlimited range BVLOS flight)

But the person isn’t where the mobile phone signal is. The drone is. And with this they could be miles apart. Albeit within VLOS, obviously…

Hmmm the controller too has to be connected to a mobile network ( usually through a mobile phone utilising mobile hotspot) So yep, I think they could tell where the controller is/ was

This is what you can achieve using 4g :scream:

Did you see some ones comment about reported ?

Goes without saying my friend

@SparkyFPV Probably used waypoints Wayne, set to complete mission on loss of signal and hover at end.

Start mission and drive to Man City easy in less time than it would take for the battery to run flat.

Would be intersting to see if the pilot has their collar felt.

Waypoints would be the best way to perform this, but keeping a connection over that distance and with all the tall building/interference etc a dongle would have been a good option to try to keep it legal.

I can’t see him keeping up with the drone as knowing the route and the roads there is not much chance of beating all the traffic lights never mind the traffic and you cant follow as the crow flies

Yeh. I meant he just let the drone do its thing and he met up with it when its done. He doesn’t need a signal once its started the mission if he has it set right. Hed have to work out the route and height well and Google maps isn’t accurate enough for that IMO. and get there before its battery flattened (unless he had someone at the other end).

You miss the point.

It’s a 4g dongle

So the flight is via 4g

Unlimited connection as long as you have 4g then RTH if all fails.

I maybe missing something, but there is nothing in the video, title or description that states that the pilot used a dongle, was it you?:rofl:

No it was Wayne who said this is what you can do with a 4g dongle

This one

…what you can achieve… but not necessarily what was actually used for the video, hence further debate. :face_with_monocle:

It flew for about 9 minutes 6 ish km
So if you think about how long the MA3 can fly that could be well over 10km
There and back. Or maybe 20, land and go and collect it

It is possible it was with the dongle, and as they have only just released them it was why I thought that, but as Colin pointed out the Mini 4 Pro will fly waypoints and it’s not a virtual stick drone so can complete the mission on signal loss

We will never know unless the guy tells us but I doubt he will

Or is it two flights edited at around 5:25? :open_mouth:

I don’t know. It wasn’t me.

But I would say it’s highly likely it was one flight flown manually
