Chinese drone industry “rapidly losing market share to Skydio” :astonished::astonished::astonished::astonished:
What, because Skydio sold a few drones to Taiwan ? :joy::joy::joy:
What did American drone manufacturers think was going to happen ? Tit for tat happens all the time :wink:

No, it’s because Skydio sold a few hundred million dollars worth to the US Government.

Plus Skydio is the driving force pushing for the DJI ban

Only used for Ukraine intelligence reconnaissance… and emergency services…
I think that story ends ‘and they all lived happily ever after’ well according to the other fairytales I’ve read.

$7.6 million to fund police department purchases over the last few years,. :scream:

Yeah but how long before this government follow suite or find away to tax us per flight

Never and… never.

Hi all.
What’s the chance/likelihood of DJI drones being banned in the US and the UK following recent political developments?

Read all about it here in this thread on that very topic.

We all know what The Donald thinks of China

they won’t be banned here, we don’t have a drone industry we are trying to push.

60% tariff on all Chinese imports will be a killer for imports into china

No, they won’t be banned or tariffed out here or anywhere else but the US, but I’d be very surprised if there isn’t a Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, or Taiwanese competitor to DJI on a serious level over the next few years that is ready to play ball with the US government to access that market. DJI’s world domination is unparalleled in any other industry marketing to general public consumers, and is a fairly unnatural situation; monopolies do not tend to last long unless they are in strongly centrally controlled economies, and those are highly unfashionable deze daze!

I can’t see any Western company equalling the culture of investment in design and innovation that DJI have been so proficient in (we want profits, now!!!), but some of their nearer neighbours might well prove up to the task!

Kinda sums some of this up, 20 min or so video( documentary) maybe worth a watch,

Interesting.

How is this thing with DJI, any different to other well known tech brands (Google, Ring, Alexa, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, etc….)

Would we even know, if these brands had been gathering info, and if they were, we’ve all learned to trust them, so it’s too late. :joy:

Military yes :+1: will they go back to Joe public and at what cost ?

From Google
**It currently assembles the majority of Apple’s iPhones in its Shenzen, China, Location ,

Me reckons it’s all about the dollar & USA being greedy, if DJI is a security threat than as you say with the likes of Apple - Google etc so yep would be too late now,
Where’s DJI made …. Shenzen lol

Amazon Alexa is another proven vulnerability for china to snoop and few third-party apps are dodgy.

It’s America hate domintion by one company where they cannot compete due to part prices so always able to undercut other prices take a loss as startup companies never have enough financial resources.
