I haven’t updated the firmware on my controller, nor have I updated the firmware on my Mini2 in quite sometime. I suspect the EXPO ability is embedded within the flight controller as this is how it’s done with other multirotor type models, eg the settings are changed in Betaflight/Cleanflight/EmuFlight/INav for the racing/freestyle guys and Ardupilot for the geeks.
For traditional RC fixed wing (those without flight controllers the changes are made in the transmitter because there’s no other way to do it.
I’ve just put the latest update on my huawei tab and updated the RC and mini2 firmware. Going for a flight shortly , hopefully the connection problem is gone.
Two batteries down and the mini2 flown as high and far as legally possible. No connection issues or loss of video feed, got a bit laggy a couple of times but only for a split second. That was on the Huawei mediapad M5, android 9
it will most likely not affect the hacks, but i recommend against it. i have only bad experience with updates in general and more specially in RC updates. also the new rc-n1 rc update i heard reports that the drone and RC randomly disconnect (but only got that info on some air2). so i advise as usualy against any update if there is no realy reason to do it.
Thanks for the info, Wayne. I only recently performed the DH to my Mini2. I also have enough history with DJI to never install a FW update until the “DJI can’t do any wrong” fanboy brigade have fully tested it beforehand.
Just done a test indoors with My Mini 2 and the Huawei M5 lite with the latest fly app version1.5.4
And like magic, it works, and it seems to be working ok. other than a very slight lag it seems good, will try a longer range test when the weather improves @PingSpike no need to get an iPad anymore
Dronehacks works fine as well
The Expo rates is a good feature and work’s well, but I don’t understand why you can’t adjust them in Cine mode
Surely that’s the best mode to make the sticks less sensitive
It seems that finally DJI have pulled their finger out and sorted out the Fly App for Android
The Drone I am using is the Mini 2
For months now, update after update wouldn’t work on my Huawei M5 Lite with problems after problems and the only way to get a reliable connection was to use the April version 1.4.2 or lower
I have flown 6 batteries now on the latest version (clean install) 1.5.4 and I have had no issues, none! All other apps were forced closed and aircraft mode activated
Today I did a range test and at 1.2km with no problems, I tried in CE and FFC mode, recorded video and took pictures with no lag. The app never crashed everything seemed to work as it should.
The app is more responsive and is now on par with using my iPhone, it really just works as it should
Also, Airdata uploads the media files which is another bonus
I was just wondering, since all the new drones have been added to the fly app I get proper crap range on my OG Mavic Mini now. Been wondering if DJI have done it deliberately to force the upgrade to occusync
