Cheers, as I said literally just got in !!
Got App crash on SC and video was all jerky and pixelated when viewed… flight log showed nothing past 43mts on one flight… on the app crash, flight looked like I took off at the point the app crashed, had not logged the take off or anything up to the point of app crash.
Once I reconnected and returned, I powered down, then back up, on doing so was told I had to recalibrate the SC controller…
Haven’t updated mine yet. Can you tell me if its now ok and if you are using Android or IOS?
Thanks.
I have smart controller (SC)… not been able to fly since due to work and bad weather.
A post was merged into an existing topic: New DJI Smart Controller - Do I or don’t I?
I’ve just updated mine. I use Android. Hoping to get a cheeky test flight when I get in from work later. I’ll post my findings.
Flight went okay after latest firmware update. I’m using the supplied controller and a Galaxy A5 2017 Android phone. The internal fan is very quiet now. RTH height was set to a default of 100m by the update. Video feed okay. Rock solid whilst hovering, even when it started getting dark. All seems fine. Flies as it did before updating.
Updated the Firmware on my MA2 yesterday and noticed the they have made adjustments to the RTH function. Now if between 5 and 50m from homepoint the drone won’t go up to RTH height before returning. It will now just adjust direction and head straight home something to bare in mind if flying around/near trees etc within this distance. I’ve not tested it yet but just a quick heads up incase anyone has missed it. Also I don’t know if this is just the MA2 or if it also includes the Mini 2?
Updated mine and noticed that. I wonder what the thinking behind that is? Panic mode?
I would say to avoid sending the drone to say 150m or whatever people have set if it is very close and much lower. I suspect many set it higher than required.
I don’t really get it to be honest. I don’t really use RTH function and just cancel it then manually fly home. Especially at that close range. What if you were flying around the other side of a tree or a rugby post for example and your remote loses connection, runs out of battery or dies? It will just try to fly through any obstacles in its way
Most people seem to set it to between 30 and 50m which isn’t too bad to wait for and if you don’t want to wait you just cancel it. Its safer than the drone just flying straight back with no altitude adjustments. Especially if its a newbie flyer not sure how to cancel RTH
Date: 2020.12.18
Aircraft Firmware: v01.00.0511
Remote Controller: v02.00.1200
What’s new?
-
Added cruise control for Free mode in Hyperlapse (requires DJI Fly v1.2.2 or later for iOS version. Support for Android version will be added later). Exercise caution when using cruise control.
-
Optimized RTH. If the aircraft is at a distance of 5 m to 50 m from the Home Point when RTH is initiated, the aircraft adjusts its orientation and flies to the Home Point at the current altitude.
Notes:
-
If the update fails, restart aircraft, remote controller, and DJI Fly or DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic, and retry.
-
The DJI Fly v1.2.2 for Android version needs to be downloaded from dji.com
I normally wait about 4 weeks after an update so just updated my MA2. It all went in OK but the Aircraft Firmware is reading 00.00.0000
Anyone else seen this and / or thoughts on it?
Looks like one of our modded versions

It seems that this is compatible with DJI Fly 1.2.4, but at least on my phone, it’s only 1.2.2
Is the firmware already out?
Think you’ll need to go to the DJI site to get 1.2.4 for Android - they seem to have given up posting on Google play store
