DJI Mavic pro

Hi everyone.

I am completely new to the drone world.
I I got it as a gift a legendary DJI Mavic Pro from my father-in-law, still in very good condition.
I have only flayed a couple of times. I liked it very much.

I’m not going to spend a lot of money on a new drone just yet.
Just wanted to ask if anyone else is using the Mavic pro?
Is it really necessary to upgrade to a newer version?
Or is it still possible to have a wonderful experience using the old Mavic pro?

Thanks to everyone in advance, if anyone answers the question or just wants to say hello.

The Mavic Pro is still a very good aircraft.

Use it, enjoy it. Go places, take pictures, learn what it can do.

If you discover that a newer drone has a feature that you really cannot do withoutthen consider buying it. (But keep the Mavic Pro!)

It’s the same situation as having a 2001 good quality car against a 2024 car of the same make. Although the later vehicle has more bells and whistles it doesn’t really get you anywhere quicker.

Hi Ged, welcome from the Black Country.
I’m still flying an old Mavic 2 Zoom, an even older Phantom 4 Pro, and an even older Inspire 1. Just get out, fly it and enjoy it.

Thanks for the answer. Like I said I’m really new, I think you’re absolutely right and I still have a lot to do with this drone.

I can’t wait until the weather warms up a bit and I can be outside more. I really like to be outside and take pictures with my phone. I think it will be a whole other level with the drone and I believe it will be my new hobby.

Welcome once again!

Hi I fly the Mavic 2 pro and really love it, the main reason to consider a new drone would Brie to purchase a sub 250 g one, this would open up more flying opportunities as really your pretty much restricted to flying in open countryside with your Mavic pro.

Thanks for the answer.
Can I have more info about crystalsky? How does it work and where can I get it?

I use a 5.5 Crystalsky with my Zoom, a 7.85in with the Inspire and my P4P uses the Pro Plus controller with the 5.5 CS built in.

Crystalsky was the DJI monitor with either 1000 nit or 2000 nit screens. Very expensive at the time, but can be bought for a modest price (cough, cough) nowadays. Available in 5.5 inch and 7.85 inch sizes, also built into the Pro Plus controllers with the Phantom 4 Pro Plus.

I will definitely look into these screens, but I will most likely use a smartphone.
Thanks
