Tbh, apart from the buzz of flying something else with the Mot. 2 and maybe you can get better visuals from the goggles than the RC, the enthusiasm has ebbed away. One main fact is that you can’t fly the mini 3 with a normal controller while wearing the goggles, that might change, but as the guy said in the first vid, DJI want you to buy the Mot. 2 so they aren’t going to make it so:man_shrugging:
I use my Goggles (OG) with my Mavic 2 Zoom, and with a HDMI cable on the Smart Controller with the Air 2S (and AIr 2 before I sold it), and the Inspire 1 and Phantom 4 Pro using the HDMI in the back of the remote. I think you could use them with any other drone if you “mobile device” has a HDMI output.
Join the club of many. Dji just have their masterplan of making money.
They had the new motion controller planned waaaayyyy before it came out, it was probably designed along side the Avata. But did they release it with the drone. NO😡. They decide to get shut of excess stock of the first one, then release it 7 months down the line to make some extra dosh.
We’re all in the same Dji boat somewhere along the line🤷♂️
Not related to this mystery update but from Philip Bloom reviewing the Mini 4:
EU HEIGHT RESTRICTION
In April 2024 in the EU any drone under 250g needs to be labelled C-0 and is banned from going over 120m for anything. DJI has decided to do this early for the Mini 4 Pro. From April 2024 every new Mini 3 Pro will also have this restriction, and they will also bring out firmware for current Mini 3 Pros to add this restriction ALTHOUGH you do not have to update your drone. It’s optional; you just won’t be able to get any new features if they add any.
So from April 2024 the fixed 120m limitation will be shipped to the Mini 3 and as currently you can’t roll back you’re stuck with it.
I also wouldn’t trust them not to push this before April. Think carefully about upgrading - the Mini 3 Pro looks feature complete with no real bugs so do you REALLY need an update with a vague changelog?
need to wait for the screams as to what has changed in the update… who’s first?
as I said in the m4p thread… we are getting the worst or all worlds when we are being dumped with the EU for everything that is restrictive… but get none of the benefits of not being in the EU.
to be fair, I don’t go over 120m… but the rules say you can if in the vacinity of a higher object and asked to by the object owner ( tower or building survey)
Class C0 UAS are equipped with a function that limits the maximum flight altitude to 120 m above the starting point. Although this cannot rule out airspace violations completely, it helps in avoiding unnecessary violations of the provisions relating to maximum flight altitudes and reduces the risk of collision with other aircraft. UAS of classes C1, C2 and C3 allow remote pilots to set a higher limit – e.g., in areas with looser regulations, in model aircraft areas or based on special permits.
But in Philip Blooms Facebook post, he says "I’ve also got some info about the height lock on the M4P. So if you fly in Europe, you are locked to 120 metres. You CANNOT go above it. If you fly in the UK or USA, you can override the 120m lock to up to 500m, but you aren’t supposed to if you stick to the drone law. " - So it does seem to be ok in the UK.
