Inverted motors, that’ll be for the new lawnmower mode

The low standing height of the Mini 1 and 2 was always a problem in grass, hence so many hand launches.

If the Mini 3 does have these inverted props then take off locations are going to be somewhat hindered to say the least

I bought an H pad to help the bigger Air 2 get off the ground in longer grass. While it folds up nicely to fit the bag I use for the Air 2, it’s waaay too big to consider carrying with Mini 2 or this notional Mini 3!

Looking at the chassis that was recently leaked on Twitter …

I cannot see this being the same drone as this …

Those large holes (circled in red) look like the front arms rotate. I agree with @MartG1960 Martin’s theory. These arms rotate 180 and sit flush against the body.

I reckon they will still be tractor (on top) motors, not pushers (underneath).

That empty shell does match this though:

Meaning the front motors swing forwards from underneath, leaving them on top when opened.

Indeed it does.

I still don’t get these “leaks”.

It’s 2022, can nobody take a decent fucking photo for once?!

Looks more like a spring onion then a leak :slightly_smiling_face:

Seems like others believe the same …

The main giveaway is the brackets for some new rotating front arms, which differ from the horizontally folding ones on the DJI Mini 2. This design change could help the Mini 3 support larger propellers for better wind resistance.

The leak also reveals a very different front end that hints at a redesigned gimbal support. Whereas the DJI Mini 2’s three-axis gimbal, which helps to keep your aerial footage smooth, hangs down freely from the front of the drone, the Mini 3’s appears to be held in place on both sides.

It’s the same with all these things, Someone spots a beast in the woods and suddenly their amazing samsung S43.24 phone turns into a nokia 3310!! Yeah okay!

The addition of obstacle avoidance alone isn’t enough for me to upgrade from the Mini 2 - purely because I never need OA.

I’ll be interested in seeing if the camera is any better than the Mini 2 though. Also interested in how the camera compares to the Autel Nano.

But man… DJI’s firmware lockdowns, anti-rollbacks, forced upgrades, sneaky background app updates, flight restrictions where there are no UK airspace restrictions… the list goes on.

Such a shame though, DJI do make fantastically good hardware

Nevertheless, you can’t beat a good product launch, I’m along for the ride  :dancing_women:
