Well, yesterday was my maiden flight of the mini 3.
It flies well and indeed is very light, however, it does not feel very sturdy as my old Mavic air 2.
Obviously two very different products, and they are both great in their own right, but the mini 3 feels very flimsy. Even the controller, the slide button, does not feel solid and has a little loose.
Time will tell, but first impressions are alright, not blown away completely.
My ND filters arrived today
Would have been better variety if there was ND128 & 256 instead of 4 & 1000, but these were the only ones by a known manufacturer available that I found.
What’s with all the dust in the box? 
£56 on Amazon they are shipping from U.S. (https://www.freewellgear.com). I read lot of positive feedback about their filters so decided to buy them rather than some unknown (to me) brand’s products.
You must remember this is not a Mavic Air 2 replacement.
There is no way on this planet it would ever feel as “planted” as a MA2(s) is.
It is a 249g drone.
It is the replacement of the Mini 2.

Totally agree on that. It’s not a replacement, but I guess I expected a little more sturdiness, but I guess that sturdiness would be related to more weight.
I know, I cannot have it all.

The boxes they come in do have a DJI Authorized address in Germany on them. 
They arrived from from Shenzhen, China, today, 14 days earlier than expected.
I can’t find the thread about Royal Mail destroying some batteries because they are not allowed in the post, but these were delivered by Royal Mail for the last leg of their journey.
I have updated to the new DJI Fly version released yesterday… now to see if it has made any difference.
I have been out flying with no issues, video and stills max distance was about 500mts
Not sure about that TBH, I see it more as a complement to the Mini 2 in their range same as the SE, we’ll see as time progresses. Anyway mostly agree but having owned the M2P I was very impressed by the stability of the M2 and M3 albeit they don’t feel as nice to handle on the ground.
Agree with this. Difficult to market the mini 3 pro as anything other than mini I guess but the ‘pro’ is on the end for a reason. I like I have all the extra functionality but a month and a bit in I’ve hardly used them, but certainly nice to have if you can afford it.
There’s a whole lot more bang for buck but the problem is (from a consumer point of view not really DJIs as they end up making more money) is the confusion that it’s a newer drone than the 2 so must be better. Obviously it is but is it worth double the price to a beginner! The mini 2 for me is the drone to still recommend to newbies looking to get their fingers wet. Plenty of great deals on eBay now for the mini 2.
Had an inquisitive friendly person during a steam train spotting mission on the Trent valley mainline yesterday who if I’d have met days before would probably have had my mini 2 just of the basis of our conversation had I not sold it 4 days earlier on eBay. 
I couldn’t find it because it was a Facebook post…
I think it was just because of the wind, but anyone else noticed the props just about come into frame sometimes? Also had some strange camera ‘jumps’ as well today, but it was pretty gusty. I don’t think anything is wrong, but would be nice to hear from those with more experience?
I officially say I hate the fuffing mini 3 and the fuffing SC.
I wish I kepted my mini 2 and appreciated more.
Did firmware update and signal is fuffing disastrous again, I could fly behind trees houses hills with the mini 2, not with this piece of **** .
I do a shot with all my drones and it’s between 2 high trees only 20mtrs away from on a high advantage point, never have a problem until this mini 3, I would nose dive down to be be nice height above the lake and go around a island and return back same way, 90 % was bad signal and I amazingly had VLOS this time

I was doing some downloading to phone direct from drone as the SC is a piece ofS*** also very limit to what you can do in your album as to get the original files have to connect mobile to bird and then there and yes I know faster and easier to just take the SD card out, but I was hoping quick transfer to phone but fuffing heat sensor switched drone off 17% during a file no warning🤬 mini 2 you could download all to my phone with the remaining battery and never ever turn off unless battery be completely dead.
Get the drone flying and up pops up needinh authorization zone so go to unlock and blinking stupid S*** automatically knocks of WiFi and Bluetooth so there’s another faffing around to get my phone hotspot again and SC turned back onto WiFi 
sorry but I like smooth uninterrupted flying.
The drone battery tells big Porky’s, I had 10 mins it said on the RC and drone was 300 MTRS away 73 MTRS high as I was doing a Pano shot, halfway through it return home came on I canceled did shot and now said 4 mins no winds and coming directly back to me it suddenly dropped under 2mins, I panicked over lake unavoidable where I live unfortunately as there in every direction but being sport it can go of course split second so back in manual or cine got it 30 ft above me where it started a force landing and did place it to drop from the skies onto soft high crass 
got it 
I have seen in past fluctuate but not 10 to 0 in about 4 mins.
Can someone tell me where is the sideways on off tab is?
I was doing a sideways shot and to achieve this I had to switch it on in settings obviously as the mini 3 don’t have side sensors, I’ve done what I want but for the hell of me I cannot find where to switch sideways flying back of again it’s disappeared.
Rant over going to cool down and walk dogs and coffee then bed.
Oh boy don’t get me started about the DJI FPV it’s a love/hate relationship atm.
