Forgive my naivety, but what is “vertical shooting”?

Shooting in portrait orientation …

Go back over 5 years, and “portrait” mode was possible on the original Mavic Pro, with its rotating camera. :+1:

If that proves to be the case, it indicates to me that the primary purpose of shooting in portrait format is photography. I’m hoping that there will be a big improvement in the photographic capabilities over the Mini 2, which, to be fair, is very good for a drone of its size, but could easily be improved.

It’s something that should be outlawed, that’s what it is.

Social Media ;o)

Reminds me of…

Social Media wasn’t the problem. People are because once smartphones came about people didn’t seem to grasp the idea of turning their phone to record video correctly. So we ended up with horrible videos with massive vertical black borders.

Because of this social media catered for the idiots, first SnapChat made it the norm, and then Instagram and Facebook followed. Tiktok has now just made it pretty much standard to the point that even YouTube’s ‘shorts’ are intended to be films vertical.

I hate it, but it’s here to stay.

Another reason for hating the general population of the planet (maybe a bit harsh but I’m in a bad mood)

Now if only phone makers had been intelligent enough to install lenses at 90 degree angles!

My thoughts exactly

Mmhhh, so portrait orientated photography/vidiography has only been about since very recent times has it? And its all tiktoks and other social medias fault?
Ive been into photography for near 30 years and been using “portrait mode” since way before digital photography and video was available to the masses. I even used to spend hours in the darkroom developing and printing my own seemingly incorrect portrait photos. Every medium, every style deserves its place, none of it is wrong. Not even my over saturated colour or darkly gothic black and white, not to everyones tastes but its what i like and what keeps me going. So feel free to snap and film away in portrait, landscape, or any other jaunty angle you like. If anyone tells you its wrong then tell them to go do one.

We’re talking video.

I’m talking any format or medium you like :+1:

In clinkadinks answer to lurch there was no mention of video or photo, just “shooting in portrait”
Sorry if my above reply seems a little curt, but I’m fed up with people telling me and other that you cant do this, that, or the next thing just because it’s not the norm.

For video, I agree - although I can see the benefit for Tik Tok, YT Shorts, etc.
For photography, I disagree - I would use this now, if I had it - as many shots suit portrait.

Anyway - back on point, we’re talking Mini 3

 sorry for derailing your thread chaps, i just get a little overexcited about some things.
To help you gey back on track, unless there was a significant improvement in its stills capabilities i wont be parting with any dosh for a mini3.

Why so @clinkadink ?

Is obstacle avoidance the killer feature for you?

Or are you banking on the camera being a huge improvement over the Mini 2 and even more so over the Autel Nano+?

Or some other reasons?
