Hmmm. Updated the firmware on the SC, still unable to switch to the Mini2 … but also now unable to re-link it either.
Anybody else having similar?

One quick factory reset of the SC later, still won’t switch between the two, but at least I can re-link the Mini2 … Every Single Time I Want To Use It
Just updated mine this evening and don’t see anything different. I still have to link my M2 and M2P every time.
I really wish DJI would give us some specifics in their release notes
Was using my mini 2 at a wedding yesterday with my smart controller and didn’t have to keep re-linking
Updated mine yesterday and reconnected to my A2S, which only takes seconds anyway so no great drama
No idea what the bug fixes were but always best to have the latest firmware
It is good to see that DJI are continuing with updated firmware for the SC
What were you switching between? I have the mini 2 and the mavic 2 pro. Switching from the Mini2 to the M2P works every time, the other way fails and needs a re-link every time.
I had used the mini 2 at various parts of the wedding day yesterday, every time I turned on the SC it connected to the Mini 2, previously I had to link it every time. I haven’t tried my mavic 2 pro yet with the new firmware on the SC.
Ah, got you. For me it always linked when powered up if it was the current aircraft, just wouldn’t ever connect when swapping to it from the M2P. Still, at least the re-linking works and it’s usable
Used both my mini2 and mavic 2 pro yesterday, had to re-link them every time I used one of them.
Last charged and speedily updated without any issues my Smart Controller a few weeks back.
Took it out to check everything yesterday and found a new "bug fix’ update was being downloaded via wifi which I always have found highly problematic. Always update via PC or Mac. The setting for auto system update had been changed which seems common with DJI - setting flags to defaults you don’t want but they think you should have.
Short summary of lengthy saga is that the wifi update failed at about 44% with “network error”. Do you wish to continue no difference. Tried several times and got as far as “64%” with same outcome.
Attempted update via PC seemed more promising but then optimism soon dashed. Dowload to 100% then transmission to 100% and then immediate fail at 0% for the actual updating on the SC. Tried a couple of times following cleaning up any detritus. Still failed same scenario.
It strikes me SC update works like a dream or is a nightmare. Probably spent more time updating and resolving SC updates than actually using it.
Will have another go on my Mac. So much for a “bug fix”!
Update on the update:
Under identical conditions on the same PC etc. eventually updated to V01.01.0064. Lengthy process download and transmission about equal in time approx 2 hours. The updating on the SC was quicker to 98% and then got error message from the PC that connection was unstable and look at the update page. Never seen that before. This was referring to the progress screen/page on the SC which was happily doing its stuff. The PC was just complaining it couldn’t keep track of what the SC was doing. The SC rebooted itself and the install went through fine and indeed the PC picked it up again after reboot.
I’m beginning to think the elderly USB 2 hub in my (very) elderly PC is perhaps unreliable. Certainly transfer back and forth is very slow. Otherwise the PC is quite speedy for an old 'un mainly because it has a decent wodge of memory and several SSDs. However time for a new USB 3 hub I think.
I guess I should have used the MacBook which is blindingly fast but anyway job done. Possibly apologies to DJI for blaming them but on the other hand they do have a lot of previous so will reserve judgement until the next time.
I tend to use dankdownloader

Never had a problem at all using this
There’s a blast from the past
Still works the best though.
It’s updated with the latest versions very very quickly.
It has never failed me yet.
Sometimes it’s best to try and not re-invent the wheel.
If it fails once through the official DJI update process I downloaded and update from here every time.
Just bringing it back to life for the members who have never heard/used it before.
I’ve got a Mini 2 and a M2P which I’ve used both with the SC. Works great. However, I keep finding that I have to keep linking the drones whenever I want to use one, the Mini 2 in particular even if I’ve not been using my M2P between flights.
Is there some way of ensuring both drones are linked and I don’t have to go through the process every time?
Thanks!
@welly I’ve moved your post to a thread that covers this exact issue already.
Short answer, no.
Scroll up to post # 84 or so
There is a further related thread over here too: DJI Smart Controller. Paired with Air 2 and Mini 2
Bah. Never mind. It’s not the end of the world and only takes a minute but would be nice not to. Oh well, maybe in a future firmware update.
It’s a pain in the arse for sure.
Indeed, fingers crossed DJI pick up on this issue
I keep on saying this exact same thing every time I have to link my Mini 2 and M2P
