So I thought I’d ask the local police for a FOI request to ask how drone related incidents they have been to ( I get bombarded with FOI at work so I thought I’d turn the tables), got a response within about 6 weeks (not the most timely, but they did keep in touch and say they are very busy) Interesting reading If you’re bored, perhaps you could ask the same of your local constabulary. I think the regs will be watered down gradually and that the safety rules will become very basic/minimal.

I wouldn’t hold my breath on that, if I were you… so long as the CAA is aligning itself to EASA on the ‘big’ stuff, seems unlikely they’re going to go and expend effort to diverge on the UAS regs.

Sorry, but I just could not resist commenting on your question, who will be “policing” these new laws, well who do you think…Policemen/Policewomen and Police “I would rather not say” i.e Gender Neutral Bobbies and Bobettes, the amateur sleuths in the form of PSCO’s and your local SWAT team, in fact anyone charged with upholding the Law of the Land but who does not like pursuing hardended criminals, drug dealers, rapists, thugs etc.but would much prefer chasing innocent “hobbyists” around the local park for a “laugh”…me being cynical, you bet…
