Drone and Model Aircraft Code: updated for 2021

In CAP722, the CAA offer this explanation, which may help:

As part of the aim to protect uninvolved persons, flights within areas that are used for residential, commercial, industrial or recreational purposes (i.e. areas that are densely populated or likely to be occupied by large numbers of persons) have additional operational limitations placed on them.

So I find myself slap bang in a grey area (great pun eh?). We’ve also shot ourselves in the foot because we’ve always claimed that fish farms are “industrial” factory farms of the worst kind, which they have always denied of course.

I think, having watched many videos on the Mini 2 photo and video quality, I might as well just get one and sell the M2 Zoom for what I can get, which will be a big hit. I’m not too worried about the lack of sensors, there’s not much to crash into over the sea.

You know I did try… Original cut was 26 minutes and I had to chop out a load more stuff…

I have updated the video notes to offers link to Drone Scene first, then the NATS app. And I’ll include the link on all videos from now on! Apols for missing this one!

We thank you very much.

It’s a much nicer interface too, and we always up for suggestions on improving ;o)

@nathankw @Drumsagard Actually CAP722 is clear; it’s 31st Dec. Meaning already in place today.
All that changes at 11pm tonight is some points of reference for the rules to mark the and of the UK Brexit transition period.

Who’s going to be the first person to take advantage of the new regs today then and fly somewhere they couldn’t legally fly yesterday?

Don’t forget - photos, or it didn’t happen

Although this tweet suggests the rules don’t change until tonight.

You couldn’t make it up… :man_facepalming:

Should be home from work by 5pm but still undecided about flying over houses in tier 4 if there’s a problem. It’s also snowing here, very rare in Morecambe.

Exactly what I thought. Thanks for clarifying.

Done! Just went for a quick flight in my local park in North West london.
It’s in camden which to my knowledge has no rules against flying drones.

Previously I had a 30 minute cycle to my nearest legal flying spot.

Now I can fly my Mini 2 in the park 2 mins walk away. This is a gamechanger!

Bit of a grey day but no wind.
Nobody batted an eyelid!

Is it right to feel slightly mischievous launching a drone from a village green? Drove to Finchinfield and took this on a fairly grey frosty day!

Great to see those photos @nathankw and @ianinlondon!

I can feel my wallet twitching right now. Got its eye on a Mini 2, I reckon.

My local council’s policy is follow the drone code. Just realised what flight choices this opens up around town :astonished:

Is it wrong to buzz golfers? :joy::joy:
