Emax Tinyhawk 2 Freestyle

Absolutely. Its all risk.

There is one thing that does annoy me. This whole plethora of systems is causing havoc for racing. All I read says its reducing in populatity and yes covid is probably the main reason, but dji not being easy to race with the others is also an issue.

Im not sure this is the case. Most races only allow Analogue or HDZero at race events and anyone wanting to race will run one of these 2 systems. I dont see how DJI is causing an issue here :man_shrugging:

Because if people have chosen dji then they cannot take part without a major spend.

As a result a lot don’t.

Dji has split fpv into two camps… so the number of potential racers has reduced.

I see what you are saying but you can flip that and say maybe they purchaced the DJI system because they had no intention of racing.

Yeah this is true… but now if they just wanted to try it, they can’t.

You change your mind sometimes… or like me just want try everything…

Not sure. I dont know elrs but i assume its just open tx and you can just edit the script to display last known coords?

The trouble is in anything, not just fpv, there is no catch all solution. The closest in fpv right now would be HDZero for a catch all system but even that has its draw backs. Its no different from someone buying Analogue to start fpv racing then thinking they really want a HD feed for freestyle or cinematic flying. They then have to make a big investment to go digital whether thats DJI or HDZero

Completely true. And it annoys me that both sides cant see this.

We need a system that can do both. Analog could and hdzero could also if they decided to do it. Dji I doubt far more…

Oh I agree, the chances of getting a racing system out of DJI is slim for sure. They are all about image quality and I dont see that changing. Any drop in latency would come at the cost of image quality. Likewise all the noises from HDZero at the moment are the opposite, they want to keep latency to a minimum and any rise in image quality (with regard to break up) would involve image processing which in turn will add latency. Its a catch 22 situation :man_shrugging:
Like you say though maybe HDZero will add optional settings in the future to allow higher latency/higher image quality but without a crystal ball its hard to say

And so I am sticking with analog…

After having a good look at this video Chris it seems that its only an issue if you want to use the goggles with the FPV drone. If you keep them in AirUnit/Vista mode it wont ask you to update to the new firmware

So all you risk, is it coming from DJI with the new firmware either as a new purchase or, now here’s a scary thought, after a repair.

A gamble for sure but thats always the case with unofficial software/firmware. Absolute worst case scenario is you are stuck right where we are now with a fantastic HD system. Best case scenario skys the limit :ok_hand:t2:

Have a look at this video @clinkadink between 6mins 20 secs and 15mins 30secs for more interesting info.

So true… But it should not be.

@Yith I personally think HDZero would be perfect for you Richard. With the new 1W vtx you get decent range/pentration along with very good image quality but with the low latency of Analogue. You also use a HD action cam for footage so it doesnt mater if you get a little breakup in your fpv feed. You can fit the system to your smaller whoops and because youre using Analogue goggles you can still use Analogue on occasions you want to or if you have some quads that you dont upgrade to HDZero. It seems to cover all your bases?

Yes… I agree. I think to really persuade me though, it needs to not be expensive or be slightly better quality… I await further developments…

That’s exactly my thinking also :+1:

I’ve been replaying @notveryprettyboy flight of his Binary on a bright sunny day in my SkyZone OLED goggles with SharkByte receiver, and it’s perfect, nil interference patterns, nil breakup, just a bit of sparkle when on ground before takeoff :+1: :+1: :+1:

Thats a good point Steve. Oled screens with HDZero gives a fantastic image :ok_hand:t2: The quality of goggles used with the HDZero VRX is pretty important for maximum image quality
