Thanks to @Howard78, I now have some Skyzone SKY02C goggles on the way
After work, I found an empty field, miles from anyone, and had my second go with the quad.
I flew without the goggles for the first pair of 1S batteries, but had the goggles on my head in case I lost orientation. No issues, landed and changed to the 2nd pair of batteries.
This time, I donned the headset. Quickly felt a little unstable on my feet, so lifted the goggles and flew LOS again. A few minutes later, the quad dropped out the sky. I realised the batteries were dead. Also found out that the beeper didnât work too. Not sure what voltage it stops working at? Luckily, I found it about 50m away. Changed the batteries to the 3rd and final pair.
I sat down on the grass with the goggles on, much better. Theyâre arenât as bad as I thought, but I cannot focus, so the screen is quite blurry - and they are still way too small. But ⌠I flew for 7 mins 53 seconds (the entire flight) without incident, and landed about 5 foot away from me after the low battery warning popped up. I even switched it into horizon mode and did 3 side rolls The whole time I was mainly practising figure of eights around me, each time getting wider and higher, then coming back in low. Honestly, a heck of a lot of fun
So no bad news to report, havenât lost or broke anything (yet)
Thats impressive in itself
@GunjaFPV said that yesterday. I donât see how itâs any different to flying a camera drone ⌠apart from this quad is a quarter of the size of a Mini 2 Is it the same, or am I missing something
Put it in acro and get back to me

Is it the same, or am I missing something
Try it in acro mode and then let us know
Doing really good though Chris youll pick this up in no time man. Learning to fly is the easy part, learning to crash and making it look good and like you meant to do it is the hard part

Put it in acro
Must be kidding. I braved switching from Angle to Horizon. That will do for my 2nd go!
Itâs actually more beneficial to jump straight into acro as its much harder to untrain muscle memory when you do decide to move into acro.
Its a steeper learning curve but easier than un training your fingers later on
How can I tell that my modes are set correctly in Betaflight?
I followed this vid for setting up the quad with my Jumper T-Pro. The main settings from the vid for setting the mode is shown below, which is what I have âŚ
But in the vid, Captain Drone didnât show the Acro mode setting, only Angle and Horizon. Which makes me wonder if that is even setup on my controller.
Is your angle/horizon switch a 2 or 3 position switch?
3 position, back = angle, middle = horizon, forward = acro
With the quad connected to Betaflight, when I select angle on my controller, it does correctly highlight Angle in Betaflight. Same for Horizon. But my point is, there is no row in Betaflight for Acro. Is this normal?
Cool so basically if youre not in horizon or angle that means youre in acro. You dont have to actually set up acro it just means no other mode is active
Got it. Thanks Steve, makes sense now
Acro here I come
It is so much fun Chris youll love it
Come off the throttle when youâre upside down
And if it goes pear shaped, I blame peer pressure

Come off the throttle when youâre upside down
Spoil sport

Come off the throttle when youâre upside down
This.
Youll never forget your first full throttle thud into the dirt
