Been informed that there are two dates that drones will not be permitted to fly – 7 January and 4 February 2026

Oh really? Winder why as ive got permission but i have email from mr swift of Donnington too looking at dates im permitting to fly

I haven’t been able to get approval from Mr Swift to fly tomorrow around Donington Park, so I’ll do that next year now, during one of the other Wednesday runway closures.

I have got my permit issued by EMA just for flying around the airport though, and have put my Flight Report up using Dronescene.

There are 2 other Flight Reports showing, so I will keep my eyes peeled for 2 other drones :+1:

Ian - I gather your permit lets you fly in Area81 and looking at my permit it seems that this is the area that is covered by that zone

Could you not park up at the bike factory then go up the road a bit to the bend here and take off and as long as you go right up you should get a decent pano / some photos of the track from there.

If I was keen on the track I might be tempted to do that

Really hope the weather stays how its been today for you for tomorrow.

meant to be raining and slight winds tomorrow sadly :frowning: but i do hope it is fine to fly!

Yeah I see there is fog early morning then rain - maybe it will blow over during the night - today has been awesome - just watching a fab sunset from my home office window

I may have to make a bit of an amendment to my request as I might have an Air 3S by the time I get to fly.

I have a hot desk at work for the days I want to be at the airport so that saves me a bit of time :man_dancing: Just must not be too excited leaving site or I will get caught by the cameras haha

I’ll see how it goes time wise. I will likely just get some photos of the track from the end of the runway for now. But that spot is just where I had planned to fly from if they don’t give TOAL permission within Donington.
Mr Swift seems very likely to allow access onto the site though, so I’ll do a proper job another time. I’ve done a few bike track days there so am keen to get some close-up shots and video.

At the Eastern end of the runway, parking at the picnic spot, I’ll go 300metres along the Airport Trail in my wheelchair where the tarmac path finishes. TOAL from there and aim to fly 500 metres in each direction along the runway.

Then TOAL from the viewing spot on Diseworth Road next to the Aeropark. Again 500 metres or so in each direction along the runway.

No flying by me at EMA today
I’ll be rescheduling to January 14th, including Donington Park.
I saw one brave lad at the eastern end picnic spot who had managed a brief flight for a couple of photos, but was defeated by the wind.

It wasn’t a wasted trip though as I have sorted out parking places for next time.

The sky at like 8am was just epic this morning - such a shame it didn’t carry on. Glad you got to scope out where your parking etc. I did on Sunday went to the picnic area to check out what its like - when I land back from Spain next week will take a quick drive round to the AreoPark view point to check out what that’s all like before heading home ( well xmas food shopping if anything is left on the shelfs haha )

Yes, I had high hopes for the day when I saw that sky.

It’s a good view at the Aero park place (Diseworth Road). You can see easily to all that side of the airfield. Bloody big area though - huge.

Take plenty of batteries :+1:

three Air 3s bats should be plenty as I only have 3 locations I want to fly at - half tempted to get a 4th ( when I do order the beast haha )

Just need Xmas day to get out of the way and for my trip to Spain not to be too expensive haha

Spanish mainland or Canaries? Do they do turkey paella?
