Mobile phone pics ?
No stills from drone video (I donât really shoot stills) . Think one might be phone photo.
Yeah Galaxy S10 ;o)
Iv stayed in Ravello as well a little less glam but the views are amazing and would go back tomorrow.. Had a day trip to Almalfi which which I didnt like as it was very touristy, as for travelling up and down the coast its really easy via the bus..
Weâre stayin in a hotel up on the high ground outside of Sorrento with views across the bay where one of the marinas are as well as vesuvius in the distance. Bus shuttle service will be well used at night I reckon.
Nice one, youâll have a fantastic time, weâll definitely be going back at some point. The security at Brum obviously see a lot of drones every day, I was expecting a grilling about it but we sailed through so you wonât have any issues.
If you need any recommendations for stuff from my limited experience just shout (although everything we did/ate/drank was good to be fair, including the best gelato Iâve ever had in Positano)
Cheers. Hmmmmm Gelato
Hmmmmmm andiamo
@sausage You were spot on. They were absolutely unphased about me taking my mini 2 through security. They were more interested in my Samsung tablet
Hi Iâm travelling to Italy, I have recently got my EASA UAS operator registration and remote pilot certificate for A1/A3 open sub category, and used my drone in Greece after submitting flight plan applications which were approved.
Do I need to submit any flight plans or do any additional flight or operator registrations to fly in Italy? Thanks
Operator registration and remote pilot certificate obtained in one EASA country is valid in all and you should not register in more than one EASA country.
Ok great, do I need to submit any flight plan applications for specific dates and locations?
Depends where your going in Italy. You dont have to apply in advance unless you plan to fly in Rome or over archaeological sites like Pompeii or Hurculanium unfortunately these places require at least 7 days notice and you have to fill out a form as long as your arm. You cant fly at night or over houses⌠you can risk it but kiss goodbye to your drone if the Polizia spot you. Lol. Dont forget to stick your EASA Op ID on your drone (I reduced the size and printed the QR code you get from EASA and stuck it on my battery door of my mini 2 with sellotape). Good luck. I love Italy the hols there are awsome!
Ok thanks for the advice. I will be mainly around coastal areas/beach, not planning to fly in populated areas or cities. Iâve got the ID number written out and taped onto the drone.
Actually my next trip is to Sardinia and Corsica, and Sicily later in the year - does anyone know about France (would I need to submit any flight plan applications for Corsica)?
Lucky you.
Hi I am travelling to Italy (Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano) soon and wanted to check rules for flying my Mini3 pro there.
As I recently went to Norway, I have registered with the Norwegian CAA and have passed the EASA/CAA Norway A1/A3 Open subcategory online test. As Norway is part of the EASA, I donât think I need to register with the Italian authorities as the Norwegian registration is sufficient. Is this correct?
I donât have a QR code (except on test certificate) but do have a registration number which I will affix to the drone. Indemnity insurance held.
The Italian National Civil Aviation refer to an App called âD-flightâ to check ability to fly in various areas. Unfortunately I seem unable to register on D-flight as I donât have a C.F/CIF/T.I.N which I believe only Italian citizens have.
I have checked on the drone safety map (Altitude angel) and Sorrento/Positano/Amalfi appear clear of restrictions but if anyone either has access to D-Flight, or knows how I can sign up, I would be delighted to hear from you. Or any other ideas re checking this.
I am aware you canât fly above 70m or at night (presumably sunset to sunrise) whilst should avoid heritage places like Pompeii/Herculanium but if you are aware of any other issues or tips it would be great to hear from you.
PS Many thanks to everyone that sent information re my trip to Norway earlier in the year.
Hi there
I took my Mini 3 Pro to fly in Italy last year. D-flight is a great app. Your TIN number is just your HMRC tax number. But to fly legally you need to be registered to fly in the EU (because, Brexit). I registered through Ireland (Drone Operator Registration) mostly because it was in English. Costs 30 euros and takes half an hour.
You can fly up to 120m/400 ft as per the UK but youâre right about not flying at night. I flew legally around the Leaning Tower of Pisa after getting clearance through D-flight. However you generally canât fly in cities - but the countryside is wide open and makes for some beautiful scenery.
Enjoy!
I think you need to register and pass the appropriate requirements with an EU state. Although part of EASA, Norway is not EU.
Hi Icarus
Thanks for your response. Just a couple of questions.
- re the tin number do you mean my hmrc utr number or my national insurance number?
- re registering with a EU state, as per this link Travelling with drones | EASA
I believe therefore that as Norway and Italy are both member states, registration in Norway still counts even though not an EU country. Am I missing something detailed elsewhere?
Thanks again for your advice.
