Flywoo explorer setup

I tried this and couldn’t get it to work, no green light came on on the receiver either.

I’ll have another go tomorrow and let you guys know how I get on.

Here’s some pics and a video of my control settings to let me know if it was all right.

It won’t let me upload the video of my controller settings so can anyone give me any suggestions how to post videos and pictures in here easily as It doesn’t allow Google photo links which is how I tend to send things.

Below is another picture of the receiver which I have managed to find and get to.

You cant post videos directly to the forum. Best option is to upload a video to YouTube and then post the link back here on a line by itself

Hopefully this works below? I just had to do it via Google drive instead.

In the video of your controller I didnt see you click on the [Bnd] option to start the binding process?

No sorry for not being clear I wasn’t videoing the whole process to show you it didn’t work, perhaps I should of. I just let you know I tried and it didn’t work and then showed you a picture of receiver and then a video of my control settings after I had tried just to see if you could tell me if they looked correct.

Not sure if you were able to tell anything from what I showed you. Sorry, I’m not the best with this as its all new to me.

Cheers bud

I will try again tomorrow and video the whole things to show you everything I do.

Cheers for all the help so far. Guys

Hi Chis.

Do you know the firmware versions of the receiver and the controller? I’m not talking version numbers but rather region versions.

A bit of history.

Back in 2015(ish) FrSky started producing transmitters and receivers with what is known as “LBT” firmware for Europe. This was due to a change in European Legislation.

Most, not all, receivers sold in the EU carried this LBT firmware, but some of us, myself included, didn’t want to go through the hassle of updating our transmitters and receivers so we carried on buying Non-LBT receivers. Also, the majority of bind and fly quads with FrSky D16 receivers imported into the country were/are using Non-LBT receivers.

FrSky transmitters sold in Europe and the UK after 2015 are using LBT firmware.

Anyway, assuming both your receiver and transmitter are compatible, the bind process is simple but you will feel you need three hands to do it.

If you can power the receiver by connecting a USB lead into the quad it is both easier and a lot safer than using a flight battery. If you have a USB powerbank then it gets even easier.

Step 1: Hold down the bind button on the receiver, then provide power via USB. The receiver LED should start flashing.

Step 2: On your transmitter go into your model setup menu and scroll down to the bind option. You need to select D16 protocol for the XM+ receiver. Then you click the bind option.

If all goes to plan your transmitter will start beeping and shortly afterward the LED on the receiver will go solid green.

If the LED does not go Solid Green then chances are the transmitter and receiver are not running the same firmware region, and they ne or the other will need to be reflashed.

You haven’t included a rough location in your profile. If you can let us know whereabouts you are located we maybe able to provide some hands on assistance.

Hi Nidge, I thanks for your reply and explanation, I feel I understand what I am supposed to do, I have tried a couple of times but may not have set my controller up correctly so later today I will be sitting down and trying to figure it out again and when I do I will video and post it here, hopefully you can tell me if all looks ok and if its likely to need to be reflashed. If that is the case I do feel I would need some hands on assistance for sure! Lol.

I live in Milton Keynes, any time you or someone you know local to me could give me to get this sorted I am happy to buy them a beer in a local pub for their time. As I really just want to get out and start flying.

Cheers mate

Milton Keynes is a little bit out of my flight radius, though I was connected to Bletchley Park before it became a museum.

As for payment… I think you’ll find most of us subscribe to the “Pay it Forward” philosophy.

Im down in Southern Kent so a bit far but hopefully someone is closer that could help you hands on if needed :crossed_fingers:t2:

Nidge and sirgunner,

Thank you both, hopefully someone else sees my oust from Milton Keynes and joins the conversation then. Haha.

I’ll let you know how it goes later and go from there.

Many thanks

100% this :point_up_2:t2:

I wish I had more spare time on my hands to help but barley got the time to fly myself these days… :man_facepalming:t2:

@FpvChris what are your soldering skills like?

personally I would rip out that XM+ RX and solder in a more upto date RX like ELRS, Crossfire, Tracer or Immersion RC Ghost they are more user friendly when it comes to firmware. But of course you’d either need a new radio to match the system or a JR Module for your current raido (if its compatible (sorry I’m unfamiliar with your radio so not sure if it will take a JR Module or not))

yes its more money outlay but well worth it. and will save the pain and misery of messing with FRSky firmware lol

Not 100% but a quick search and I found this video. Looks like it might need an adapter?

No worries Deano mate,

I appreciate your advice at the very least.l, someone else did say the same as you, this is all new to me so just learning from everything that you guys says as I go really.

I will put a post up asking for people local to me if I still can’t get it to bind later today.

All the best and I hope you find more time to fly!

I’d personally not bother with the Ghost system. I’ve been waiting the last 7months for someone, anyone, to stock Ghost receivers in the UK. ImmersionRC suggested I buy them from Orqa but they want close to £25 postage for a receiver :scream: :scream: :scream: For 2.4GHz I’d look toward ELRS.

That is mental prices! Around £50 for one receiver :grimacing:
I would personally recommend Tracer for 2.4GHz purely on availability in UK and ease of use (the OP is a beginner), and from what Ive heard about ELRS although its great when setup and working it can be a ballache to get setup and running properly

Not entirely true… its a bit long winded in the first place unless you have a fast PC as the firmware build is slow, however once past that bit the whole passphrase system is a breeze.

It does just work… no compatibility issues… its just slow to start with.

Hi Nidge I did exactly what I believe I need to be doing with the - holding button on receiver - setting up the control to what I think people mean (but I’m not sure if I have this right or not, videos provided show the firmware and software on the controller) then plugging in the drone (I used the battery). - turning off the drone and the controller and starting them back up again.

I done all of the above in the order I believe is how people have explained but still doesn’t seem to bind.

I have tried to upload videos here but I can’t get it to work so if you or anyone would like to see them could they provide me an email address to send them to as I am struggling to get them to upload on here.

I have made good clear videos of everything I have and the firmware in the remote, it does also have options for what looks like ghost down as “ghst” and what looks like crossfire, down as “crsf” not sure if this is what you guys are talking about and if it means I can select one of those options and this whole thing be a lot easier or not? I also showed all the relevant process I believe I needed to do in terms or binding so maybe people could let me know I’m doing that right as well

Cheers guys
