Flywoo explorer setup

I have managed to upload my video’s to YouTube and hopefully these links below work and take you to them, can you please let me know if what I am doing is correct and that the setting/firmware on my remote are ok and correct or not?

Thanks in advance

This is me showing my binding process - YouTube - binding process

This is the options I have on my transmitter - YouTube - settings/firmware on remote.

Try these settings that @SirGunner Steve posted above

Hi Chris,

Sorry I’ve had a busy weekend.

Anyway, you seem to have switched your internal module on your controller to Off and are trying to configure the external module. An external module would be an extra bit of hardware you plug in to support a protocol that is not already present on the transmitter.

Try switching external OFF and configure internal as per @SirGunner 's post above.

As I said, it’s a long while since I’ve done any of this. I can’t remember whether I had better luck putting the receiver or the controller into bind mode first. Might be worth trying both.

I also seem to remember Josh Bardwell recommending the “with telemetry” option, although I’d have to see if I could dig that video up again.

I feel I may need to do what you are saying so can you tell me how I go about changing over to crossfire or I think you said you use TBS?

Is it pretty straight forward?

Hi Earwig,

Thanks so much for you advice I will try set correctly and come back to you

Cheers

As @Earwig has said you appear to have turned off the internal rf module in the settings and are trying to bind to an external rf module (which you dont have).
Reactivate the internal rf module and try the bind process again :+1:t2:

if your soldering skills are up to it its easy enough :+1:t2:

you’ll need to check the wiring diagram for your flight controller and for the crossfire receiver.

the Receiver will have a power ground TX and RX solder pad on it. then you’ll need to find the 5v pad ground pad and the TX and RX pads on the flight controller.

the power pad on the RX wires up to the 5v pad on the flight controller.

the ground pad on the RX wires up to the ground pad on the flight controller.

the TX pad on the RX wires up to the RX pad on the flight controller.

and the RX pad on the RX wires up to the TX pad on the flight controller.

then you will need a Crossfire module to fit to your radio.

its a lot to take in for a beginner… and confusing as hell lol

but as I’ve said a million times YouTube is your friend and Joshua Bardwell on YouTube is your master :ok_hand:t2:

TBS is shorthand for Team Black Sheep. They are a manufacturer.
One of the protocols they developed is Crossfire, which you correctly guessed is identified as CRSF in the setup.
Let’s not get bogged down in how you change over to that until we’ve absolutely ruled out getting your FrSky XM+ working. Changing to something else would require buying more hardware.

Edit: And some soldering, as @DeanoG60 had just mentioned.

I am waiting for a video to upload to YouTube to share the link here of another failed attempt at binding and also showing you my controller setting so you can see. I think I have it correct and doing everything right in the right orders but still nothing…
It’s so frustrating!

Thanks for all your support so far though all of you.

Yes I have emailed Joshua Hardwell but as you lot came back to me abit sooner and we’ve got quite away down the lines in terms of what you know about my situation I haven’t gone to try and start from the beginning again and speak with him but I will email him soon if still can’t get it sorted in the next day or two.

Once again thanks for your knowledge, it is very confusing isn’t it. I didn’t expect it to be quite this hard and complicated.

I have tried again to bind, with what I believe is now the right settings after all of your help pointing me in the right direction, however I still couldn’t seem to get it to bind, does everything look right to all of you with my controller and the steps I take to bind?

Many thanks

When you press the bind button on the receiver with your finger can you feel it click? Try it again but put the receiver into bind first before the controller like in this video here. When the receiver is in bind mode both the green and red leds should be solid. Once it has bound you should get a flashing led. Then when you power back on you should have a solid green led.

That looked good… But I think you took your hex-key off the bind button too quickly. Wait until the sound on the Transmitter changes before releasing.

Im just wondering if the bind button is stuck down by the heatshrink

Right. I found the video about the bind options and for the XM+ it’s telemetry off.

However, I see you’ve now chosen ACCSST D16
and I’m not convinced this is the right option…

There’s just so many damn variables in FrSky. :sob:

Sorry, this so much to take in. It’s a massively steep learning curve when you start out with FPV, but it will be worth it in the end.

Lmao… he’s not even crashed his first quad yet… those first flights are horrific…

By the way, we forgot about the other giant of FPV, Oscar Liang. Here’s what he had to say.

Also, you can read my trials and tribulations here:

Not to disconcert you too much, but reading that thread back, it took me from 28 June to 23 July to get the “bind and fly” quad working.

Shhhh! He doesn’t need to know that approximately 30-90 seconds after he’s finally got it working it’ll be in a tree or a river or smashed against a wall.

Theres some really good stuff in the Oscar Liang link above

Guys I feel I have trialed and error all of your suggestions in various different ways as per all of the above suggestions and I still could not get it to bind! Been at it all night on and off! The poor Mrs hasn’t been too happy. Hahaha.

I will have another go tomorrow and keep you all updated. I am becoming more and more concerned that I might need to reflash or changes receivers which does sound like a real pain. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

Cheers everyone
