I’m rather new to this forum but I’ve already learnt a lot looking at all the threads, many thanks.
I’ve been asked to get some drone photos of a charity run but the first part of the route cuts through EGD510B SPADEADAM. I have a contact number but not much luck getting through as yet. Is there another process for gaining permission that you guys have used before?
I also noticed that under the “Airspace Activation Schedule” it didn’t list Saturdays and Sundays which is when the run will take place. Does that make a difference?
As a new member you won’t have full access to Drone Scene which is our essential flight planning tool - it gives a wealth of information about restricted zones, temporary restrictions and, most importantly, sited recommended by GADC members who have actually flown there and offer advice and directions.
This is a link to the Spadeadam area on Drone Scene
If that doesn’t give you the information you need here is a screenshot of the same area. I brought up the information on one of the restricted areas by clicking within its boundary. Click on the screenshot for a larger view
From what I can see you are right about the RAF not working at weekends so you should be good to go. I have included the text from the popup box as it contains a couple of potentially useful phone numbers

Intermittent Airspace
Intermittent airspace are volumes that are temporarily activated, typically via a NOTAM or pre-defined schedule.
The only thing that may upset your plans are if a NOTAM is issued to close the airspace to traffic. Drone Scene automatically posts the NOTAMs and marks the area affected for the duration that the NOTAM is in force. I believe that non-subscribed members get a limited range of functions on Drone Scene, details of membership benefits are via the link below:
Terry, noticed your interest in The Cumbria run, being myself in Carlisle, and recent to the drone world, would like t arrange a meet up, with yourself, and any other interested flyers in the near vicinity, possibly a GADC club to be formed in the area, Grahame

That in itself is going to take more than a phone call with verbal permission. The DJI Flysafe website ask for proof of permission being given, before considering granting the unlock. I usually find a phone call, followed by email as a minimum so that any permission given can be screenshotted and uploaded to the DJI Flysafe website, when applying for the unlock works
I thought the OP said it was a FRZ ? In which case it will/ should be a red zone. ?
I’ve just checked on Altitude Angel and they have it down as a red area ( with the times) I’ve flown twice now in FRZ’s( in the last few months) so maybe DJI Flysafe have changed the way you apply for unlock.
The last two times I requested an unlock, I had to upload a copy of the permission from the ATC for the area I was unlocking ( both of which showed as blue on the DJI GEOZONE map )
Then you’d have to get online. You can apply for the unlock well in advance. Once given go back online with your controller connected to the internet and the drone switched on. Find unlock a zone in settings ( you also have to be logged into your DJI account on the controller) and the unlock should be in there . Simply click it and select apply to aircraft. It’ll download the permission and apply it to your drone. Then on the day, your drone should be able to take off within the FRZ
Very strange Sparky. When I applied for unlocking in the zones I flew in. The Flysafe website asked me to upload proof of permission. The only thing I can think of is that I applied for a custom unlock rather than a zone unlock ?
Just tested this on the website and I’ve successfully unlocked the large blue area surrounding East Midlands tomorrow, but last month, to unlock a small area of this zone, I had to submit the ATC permission before the unlock was considered
