Had similar ages ago on Ender 3 Pro, in the end it was the cooling fan was full of dust and fluff so the top end of the print head was not being cooled.
The filament was melting half way down the throat tube, not down in the block where the heating element is.
That took a while to find.
Now that sounds hazardous, i will keep it in my back pocket after the extruder arriving later
Iāll bet. A good shout, but i did that when i replaced th the 1st nozzle
My Anycubic Resin printer is annoying me. Besides the messiness, a screw from my FEP (the bowl that holds the models) has just lost its thread and now isnāt working right.
My son, who also prints has donated to buy myself something new (I guess heās fed up printing my prints) so Iāve ordered a Bambulabs A1 Mini with a 4 colour system. I looked into a lot of printers and this seems the most user friendly and pretty much plug and play. Iām not one for tinkering and I just want my prints to work but the 4 colours is really interesting as most of my prints will be of 3D models created from my drone.
Make sure that you show off your prints
For the curious, cooling fan replaced, original parts back on, busy churning out the bits i need for a diy laser engraver.
PETG is starting to piss me off
They are just the first few of 15. After i removed the candy floss
Just canāt seem to get a decent print.
Done a temp tower. Result says 235°
Reduced the speed
Changed retraction
Changed fan speed
Changed extrusion rate.
Stringy and clumpy as cats play den.
Thought is it the printer.
Reloaded pla. Pressed print on my PLA benchy up pops a near perfect benchy.
I hate PETG.
Cheers will give them a shot tomorrow.

We will see.
Iām pleased to look at these Wayne, Thanks
Iāve had problems with PETG recently as well
Could it be wet
What issues Steve
Remember Petg is very hygroscopic
Poor surface finish, stringing which Iāve never had before.
Filament is kept in sealed bag or dryer box
then I would say it is more of a mechanical fault, if its printed ok before with the settings you have
It blinking well is. I just invested in a dryer box a week or so ago, so pretty relevant this. Completely changed the way mine printed! But if you sure itās dry, then year summit else going on!
Yep, but⦠it prints TPU absolutely beautifully and PLA is pretty good so I think itās got to be my TPU settings (Iāve tried new reel of filament as well)
Iāll give it some tiime later today and see what I find out.
Thanks for your help Wayne
Brand new out of the vacuum bag. Now sat in my filament box which has a shit load of moisture absorbers in in.
Iāll give it 2 days in there if tonights efforts fail.
Yup 3d printing has to be the most frustrating hobby ever
