Hi from a newbie in Bournemouth

Just a quick hi, I am a 61 female and just bought my first drone, a DJI Spark to journal my travels.

Looking for hints, tips and tricks to help me get up and started.

Hi @Kaz, and welcome to GADC.

We have a significant number of Spark owners, so if you have any questions ask away over on #questions-and-answers and someone with the relevant knowledge will be happy to offer advice.

If you haven’t already, take a look at the Map of Members and you’ll see there are a few other members in your neck of the wood. ('m not far away in Southampton.)

(Don’t forget to add yourself to that map :+1: : How to add yourself to the Members Map )

Also, if you’ve not seen it, check out our map of places where members have flown in the past … which, obviously, doesn’t necessarily mean they are still OK to fly and, as always, any pilot needs to check that everything’s OK before flying at any of them.

Hi @Kaz welcome to the madhouse we call home ( when it’s raining or too windy) otherwise we are out and flying
Don’t be afraid to ask any questions not one of us knows all the answers but someone may have had the same problem and a solution

We do have some bad habits and a weird sense of humour but you’ll get used to us

We’re are your travels going to take you? Foreign shores of good old Blighty…

Thank you - I clearly belong here then, I have a weird sense of humour too! After a bad bout of pneumonia, I was laid up in bed, started watching Youtube vids (as you do) and was amazed with blighty… that inspired me to start documenting my travels for my old age… so, blighty first, then who knows… :sunglasses:

So glad I found this forum, it seems full of help, advise, tips and a wonderful supportive group xxx

I fly phantom 4 pro and have just invested in a mavic 2 zoom. I am 71 years old😀

Hi Kaz nice to see another local if you need any help get in touch just up road from you. I go out playing in kings park and down the beach have a dji inspire mk1 mavic pro mk1 and a few racing drones ive yet to play with

Wow, thank you for saying where you go. I live in Throop and notice the exclusion zone both from the Airport and the New Forest is huge. Thanks for letting me know where you go. I have connected it, not not taken it on it’s maiden voyage yet.

Watching loads of vids at the moment, but as you seem such an expert, I may well contact you sooner than you think. How long have you been flying?

I started last year and I have completed my ground school and will take my flight assessment in April to get my CAA Pifco permissions for commercial flights.
