Hi all,
As a family we’ve had several drones over the years, all cheap and aimed at kids, and all utter disasters!
What i’m trying to do now is persuade myself that i can spend, maybe £300 to get a proper drone that we can learn to fly without the hindrances of three minute battery life, controllers that wont pair and instructions that are more amusing than instructional!
As a member of the club, i’m hoping to get good advice about which first drone to buy (a dji mini 2 seems to be a popular suggestion), make use of the “for sale” area and get help trouble shooting once ive made my purchase.
Thanks for having me!

Hi @Wilzo welcome to the club
Hi Wilzo,
Have a look at cex

Great returns policy.
Small increase in price if eBay, but with much less risk.
Maybe more bang for your buck than new, new drone.
Hi @Wilzo and welcome aboard tge GADC site
Always wondered what CEX was. Thanks!
Welcome to the group
Suggest getting the mavic 2 pro with fly more kit - these go for £400 on ebay - by only from someone with 100% postitive feedback, and who is not regularly selling lots of of drone stuff. Test fly before buy or ask for demo test fly, and make sure that afterward all the motors feel about the same temperature (they’ll all be hot, but you don’t want one that’s extra hot compared to the others). Check they are also prepared to confirm that the batteries are in good condition - batteries get old and tired and cost about £80 to replace good second hand, or £129 new from DJI.
Great machine but the sub 250g offer so much with the current rules
I sold a mint one of these (as some will confirm) for £650
Look on social groups a few on there but do your homework on the seller(s)
Sorry Chris, i feel like i’m missing something here. Could you elaborate?
Check out our very own Good2Go to see the restrictions you have with a drone heavier than 250g (like the Mavic 2 Pro mentioned above)
Having read what feels like an entire library of rules and regulations, i think im going to have to focus on one area in order to really understand what is expected of me.
Under which Category of Operation do most people fly?
Did you try the Good 2 Go service @Wilzo
