Interesting NOTAMs / Flight Reports / temporary flight restriction zones

what makes you think that they haven’t sought permission? :man_shrugging:

they are educated enough to submit a flight report. :+1:t2:

I was always under the impression that recreational flights in this area particularly were highly likely to be refused.

If that’s the case they are accepted then I’m certainly going to give it a go having wanted to fly here before.

It’s always worth an ask. you’ll find most ATC are very accommodating. They are usually impressed that you actually asked permission. :+1:t2:

Given the nature of the area I think is more of a security restriction and not an actual ATC one. Granted I have seen commercial drones submitting flight reports but didn’t think you’d get away with it on a recreational basis. :man_shrugging:

you won’t know if you don’t try… :man_shrugging:t2:

Yeah I’m gonna give it a try if other recreational drone users seem to be flying in it. :+1:

@uav_hampshire

Where is the submitted NOTAM on the above, i can’t seem to find it on dronescene

It’s not a NOTAM, it’s a Flight Report.

It’s all a bit confusing…

On dronescene /drone assist it says ’ An area that the regulatory authority has declared to be a no fly zone for drones. ’

On the DJI Fly App map it it’s classed as an Enhanced Warning Zone but not Restricted Zone which means you just acknowledge the pop up warning message when taking off.

I wouldn’t pay to much attention to the DJI Bullshit NFZ garbage. Dronescene is accurate to the UK law with FRZs :+1:t2:

I’ve emailed the CAA for clarification because it appears to me DJI are classing most of this area unrestricted when it clearly shows on dronscene/drone assist it is restricted.

DJI and reality rarely tie up. Ignore DJI at all times … except for unlocking.

Wrote this a long time ago - worth reiterating (and updating for the advances in Drone Scene … and the fact that NATS stepped aside from Drone Assist).

Perfect, which answers my question and what I was suspecting… Thank you.

Having a 10 minute break from work thought I’d have a look in Dronescene
SAR mission going on at Ben Nevis

Underslung loads could also mean Chinook helicopters?

Edit Actually no, just seen it states civil aircraft. Could possibly be works going on?

It’s gone now!!! I should have taken a screengrab.
Just to the south of the choppers moving things there was a NOTAM advising all aircraft to please keep clear of the area for SAR teams, I swear it was there

It could have well been… I’ve seen NOTAM’s out in the Solent when the AW-139 is carrying out low level winch training.

We normally have a whinge about the DJI made up maps but at least this year they have flagged the Bournemouth Sea front as restricted for the up coming airshow.

I take it the event organisers must have contacted DJI?

Who remembers the idiot last year who was flying a Mini 3 as aircraft were flying by at very low level claiming to police it was just a toy when it was seized…

Was that the guy sitting on the beach?
