Wish I hadn’t bothered getting Thursday off now after looking at this. Was hoping to get to Dunkeld and surrounding area for the day, looks like I’m going to have to travel further afield for the next 10 days or so
On the way home tonight I noticed a rather large amount of activity at the wee airport along the road. Shouldn’t really call it wee, its the busiest commercial airport in Scotland after all. There’s not usually many night flights, but sitting in my driveway tonight I could see plane after plane take off and planes landing was the same. Must be something to do with the cop crap, ferrying the vips to bigger airports?
Where is the restrictions around Dunkeld? Looks all clear on Drone Scene?
On drone scene today the restrictions went up to just north of blair Atholl, all the way down to the borders, and 5 miles out to sea on both the west and east coast
Just had another look and it’s all gone!!! That would tie in with all the flights out of the local airports and what I’m hearing on the wireless, all the vips are leaving and letting the delegates get on with the rest
The photos from my tablet will have to wait till I’m at work. I get a whopping 3meg download speed on a good day, upload is 0.3
and I get no mobile signal for 3 or 4g.
@Drumsagard
Back on this morning although I had to zoom in quite a bit, maybe I’m interpreting the info wrong?
As im really new to drone flying and NOTAMS i was wondering if its still possible to fly in these restricted areas below 400ft as i see on Drone Scene (same as above screen grab) that the air space is in effect between 400ft and 10000ft.
Im going to my folks up in the East Neuk of Fife for a few days and was hoping to get out film some beaches/harbours etc
Would this be possible or am i better leaving the drone at home…any help on the matter is appreciated.
You are correct, @16sport. There is no restriction for flying beneath 400ft AGL.
I knew I would be reading it wrong or missing something!!! Should have read the info more thoroughly as usual
.
It depends on which part of the restriction you are in. Some of it applies only above 400 feet; some of it applies down to ground level. I’ve clicked on a few of the areas shown on Drone Scene and due to overlaps I think they’re not completely clear.
The definitive restrictions are here:
Ah well - the NOTAM has been removed.
Depends where the sand ends up, surely.
Have the worlds media been informed?

Is that for the QE coming home?
No idea. But this part of the NOTAM intrigues me:

Why TVP are involved instead of Hampshire Constabulary or MOD Plod I do not know, any ideas?
This is for the arrival of HMS Queen Elizabeth and Carrier Strike Group 21.
The reference to TVP is an error by whoever prepares the NOTAMs, as the actual Restriction of Flying Regulations state Hampshire Constabulary.
