Perfect signal all the way. 
Nobody else about means no WiFi to interfere. (There’s a chance, too, that at such a shallow angle, there are reflected from the water surface, too … especially being so calm.)
With triple battery set-up - I know of someone that has had over 10 miles … and with mega aerial set-up, they had full control and video signals.
