We did tell you ;o)
Enjoy it, if you don’t use quick-shots I don’t think there is much at all missing as a complete replace,t for GO (except the ability to view images on the fly, my only bug bear in 4 years using it)

I know, I know lol.
I also took 3 or 4 images in the ‘5 shot’ mode, expecting them to be different exposures to merge HDR but they are all the same exposure. That’s what I mean about need to learn the rest of the app. Will give the manual a read today if I can tear myself away from the video footage.
This is a good source, there are 00’s of tutorials on youtube, or the Litchi support group on facefook (if thats your thing)
Well, I’ve done it. My first Litchi mission (now edited down with music). Comments would be greatly appreciated.
Bloody love Litchi !!

We like
I liked it, but, please take this as constructive, I found that some (many) of the shots were too long. I’m a great believer in letting the viewer see what you want them to see but just long enough for them to get the information and then move on to the next scene. Keep it short, keep them interested. Five or six seconds is long enough, otherwise the viewer starts to get bored. It’s very difficult when editing, to cut some of the shots down or even cut them altogether, we all think our videos are great! I watched it all the way through to see what was coming up and you had some great shots of bridges and locks and I especially liked the end scene, rotating round the marina. I used to cringe when I used to go to my local video club. What they might think is a good shot, lasting 20 seconds, is boring to the viewer and I used to almost go to sleep watching. You have some good shots there, perhaps focusing on some of the buildings etc, or speeding it up slightly (not keystone cops speed) might keep the viewer interested… I hope you don’t mind me going on a bit of a rant, I hope you take this in the spirit it was intended and well done for putting it up and asking for comments
Thank you for your comments. Much appreciated. You are quite right and I tried to keep the interesting bits (to me, at least), but was obviously still a bit long. I’m still learning and any feedback is worth hearing.
Still love Litchi though ![]()
This is the problem Steve, we all shoot brilliant !!! (to us anyway) footage and because it’s so brilliant (!!!), we want everyone to see it (all of it!) There’s a big difference in filming for your own satisfaction and filming to show other people. Think holiday videos
You (we) have to be brutal in editing otherwise the viewer will switch off, that’s why it’s always good to shoot with editing in mind and not just point and shoot hours of footage.
Yeah, I know how old this topic is - but I’ve only owned my first drone for a couple of months so haven’t managed to read every post here yet!
So I mainly want to say what an amazing and stunning video this is. I was completely mesmerised by it.
I note a few comments about shot lengths etc. Broadly I agree with those, but I have to say that my one disappointment with this video is that it wasn’t one continuous shot
, maybe preceded by the 2 minute cut for the those with concentration problems (like me all too often!).
Can’t wait to get Litchi myself - but I have a Mini 2… (Maybe not too long to wait now).
I guess I’ll have to overcome my total fear of getting within 50m of any object that doesn’t seem to be 100m below me
Wow @martin_t Martin, what a great compliment. Really appreciated. I have the full flight but nobody would want to watch it all, even me lol.
I have certainly taken note of what people say about shot lengths etc. but as I shoot for me, and as I have said before elsewhere, I edit so that I like it. If others do, Brilliant!! If not, then no matter. Most people tend to skip through or watch only the first part anyway, so I don’t really see that it makes sense to cut out another 4 minutes or so just to please other people.
I am not interested in getting monetised on YT but still get some views so I am happy if others enjoy what I output, but do not worry if not.
By the way, I also have the Mini 2 and am waiting for it to be picked up by Litchi. It will be great to see how it will work with Litchi.
How sure are you of that? You could put in on your Youtube channel (that I’ve just subscribed to) - see how many likes you get (at least one I think!).
Shot length really depends on the aim of the video. Most drone shots on TV seem to be between 15 and 61 frames
which is probably about the correct length for my attempts, and that includes a fade up and a fade down.
I’ve just watched your ‘After the storm’ on Youtube. Loved that too. It was in fullscreen so I didn’t know when it would end. As there was no ‘here comes the end’ shot it all came as a bit of a surprise - and I was very sad…
This seems like confirmation of the release of the SDK for the Mini 2, so from what I’ve heard about Litchi releases we should expect to be able to record our first Mini 2 missions on about Jan 3rd 2022 ![]()
The Beta version for the Mini was kicking around for about 3 months before a proper release, Dronelink came quite a few weeks before Litchi did.
Thank you Martin, I really appreciate your comments.
