My name is Andy from Brum. I have had a drone for a few years, haven’t had much time until recently to fly.
I’ve had my flyer and operator ID for 2 years and just got my A2 CofC.
I will be spending the next couple of months improving my control and then go for the GVC course so I can apply to the CAA for Operational Authorisation. Hopefully onto surveys and such. In the meantime, I will be on the lookout for some nice spots to fly regularly and hopefully enjoy myself.
I hope I bump into a few of you guys out there, hopefully pick your brains.

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.
There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.
We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.
Our Associates are able to enjoy a lot of great services for free but our Members are eligible for a whole lot more! Read all the details about our Membership Benefits?
And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.
I joined the BMFA around 6 months ago. Only recently found out about you guys. You guys seem more engaged with their members, so hopefully i can meet other like minded people at any events.
My main reason for buying a drone was for a hobby. But rently made redundant so im hoping to make some money on the side.
Hi Andy @heatshield and welcome from Walsall to the GADC site.
I have had a fab experience with this club since joining. I have found everyone to be reallynhelpful and friends. There are a lot of knowledgeable people in here so if you ever need any help there will also be someone on hand.
Also consider joining the @group-westmidlands if you are interested in meeting up as people on here do arrange local meets.
GADC also have one of their BIG MEETS coming up in June as well. There is also one planned for Sept as well
Yes no doubt we will do maybe a local meet or even a BM.
That is how myself @FoleyMrs and @FoleyMrs becane friends through a local meet they arranged and met up with some ither locals like @Hotrodspike who is also from the W.Mids area
Staying over would be better for the distance. I looked on the map. It shows day visitors parking, but I don’t see markings for weekenders. Is the weekend parking included with the tents?
Yes if you are staying over you can just park with your tent.
If you do not want to buy a tent straight away and wabt to stay over locally there is are a couple of hotels near mby which some members prefer to do
