Just getting back into FPV after 3 years or so away from the hobby. Flying mainly 3” and 5” quads and looking for other local flyers, flying sites and get togethers. Flying clubs also considered but it seems many still don’t entertain FPV.

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.
There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.
We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.
Our Bronze Members are able to enjoy a lot of great services for free but our Silver and Gold Members are eligible for a whole lot more! Read all the details about our Membership Benefits?
And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.
Welcome once again!

Hi @SgtBash and welcome to GADC ![]()
Hi @SgtBash
Lots of @group-fpv club members in your area, and some good FPV flying areas can be found on Drone Scene ![]()
Welcome to GADC @SgtBash - I am also a keen fpv enthusiast based in Corby (Twice a year this place descends into chaos but apart from that some nice countryside flying to be had around
)
Hi @SgtBash and welcome to GADC
![]()

I’ll take a look, thanks for the heads up!…![]()
Thanks for the reply, just down the road in Wellingborough area…. Any regular spots you fly from?
Welcome to GADC, @SgtBash. I’m a fairly new member, too. Based in Warwickshire.
Hi @SgtBash and welcome to the GADC community
I spent a lot of time last year at the former RAF Desborough - 5mn drive from me - a quiet large (and bare) place perfect to test/tune new builds - specially big/fast ones. Lacks bit of feature to make it a ‘great’ place to fly (also car park is ‘first come first serve’ and there is only 1 parking space on the access road - or you need to walk an extra couple of miles
)
When I was not doing that - I usually explore footpaths and stop when I find an acceptable spot.
I am hoping to go one better this year and find a place where I could even maybe plant a few race gates to practice ![]()
Is the RAF site still there for use? I have some setting up to finish on a couple of quads…. One of them a 5” so a bit of open space is handy….
Should be - I went around a few weeks back and nothing had changed ![]()
Google map is not really up to date on the path - here is the location of the ‘parking spot’ (you will see when you can no longer go further with the car, there is a field entrance on the left and a parking spot opposite. Make sure you hug the edge to keep the field accessible just in case.
You can use the field entrance to U turn. If too muddy - or if somebody is already parked there you may have to reverse your way out (rare but it happened a few times).

Once parked - continue on foot on the remnant of the path until it opens up on a flat (half a mile with slight uphill) - you’ll reach the Northerly point of the ex-base. I most of the time just settle on the side of the path when it opens up enough (you have the occasional jogger / dog walker / cyclist using the path).
Happy to meet you close by if you rather I show you around ![]()
Thanks for the details, looks like a decent open area, isolated too…… you’ll have to let me know when you next plan a trip maybe, meet up, bring a couple of quads and some packs!
See if all my crossfire stuff is still solid….
Do any you guys ever join a group session on the FPV Simulators at all?
I use TRYP normally but it doesn’t have multiplayer. Also have Liftoff and Crashed FPV if anyone else uses either of those.
Usually decent enough for a bit of a blast about and chew the fat a bit, especially whilst the weather is as crappy as it is atm…..
Some of us go on sims from time to time - but nothing organized afaik
There is a discord channel but not much activity lately – we could try to get something going I guess (we had a timed lap challenge a little while back in lift off if I recall - could be revived or something similar?)
By Crashed FPV - you mean Uncrashed or is there another one around?
Here is the channel so you can say hi on there ![]()
I’d be interested in a joint effort in Liftoff etc. sounds good.
