Potensic Atom - Anyone own one?

I have introduced myself previously so I will get straight into it. I have just bought a Potensic Atom. I chose this over the DJI Mini 4 as it was cheaper and offered more features. One drawback I am finding, and I’ve not even flown it yet, is that because it’s a newish product there is not as much in the way of information nor accessories available. Does anyone else on here own one?

Al

According to this poll:

only 2% of the members here last year flew a Potensic drone.

Keep your eye out this poll usually get asked each year as the GADC family grows so you can add yourself to the next poll.

I own one, my first ever drone and I love it !
Haven’t looked for accessories etc as so far I’ve not needed anything apart from some aids to droning that you could use with Any drone.
One thing I would mention if it’s your first drone. . It DOESN’T. have object/ terrain avoidance so just be aware of what you are flying over, through, or near. Not a problem so far for me as I tend to be cautious flying anyway

I have flown it briefly indoors just to check it works and the components talk to each other but the weather has been so damp and cold that I have not been encouraged to go outdoors. Because of this I’ve been doing lots of YouTubing and Googling. I am seriously thinking about getting a tablet. I do have an iPad Mini 2 but cannot upgrade the iOS to run the app. Very annoying.

I own the Potensic Atom 4k. Its a great reliable drone although a few people reporting problems after the latest firmware update. I did the update and have had no issues. There is a facebook group run by Potensic with alot of information.

The Potensic Atom 4k (3 axis version) was my 1st drone (December 2023) and it served me well for the 8 months I was using it.
Like you, I got it for the same reasons as it was better value for money and had more features than the DJI 2se/4K.
The major downside is that Potensic are a smaller player in the drone market ( although they have been around a few years) so there isn’t the accessories or after care like there is for DJI drones.
I’ve since moved over to the DJI Mini 4pro and Air 3 but would still recommend it to anyone after a decent 1st drone on a budget.
I have read about some people having issues after a firmware update but as I haven’t flown mine for the last 4/5 months I can’t comment on that issue.

I got my Atom in December and have had it out a few times since. Excellent value, easy to fly and exceeds expectations.

HI,

Had my Potensic for over a year now and found it to have everything I was looking for in a drone for a beginner.

Great camera, easy to use but the app doesn’t work on iPads and I was hoing to use an ipad mini instead of my phone on the controller.

Have had a couple of occasions where the controller seems to have lost connection with the drone and the video is no longer working. Was still able to bring the drone back though with the joysticks. Maybe I just need to re-pair the controller and the drone.

More accessories would be good but overall I’m glad I spent £329 instead of £999.

Hi,

I purchased the new Atom 2 drone with the fly more pack. It is a super quality drone. I only got it yesterday so not used all the features yet. Here is a link to a video I recorded yesterday evening https://youtu.be/ysaVcD5Y8Jg you can see the image stabilisation is spot on. Flew it from a distance of about 1.2km from where I was. Easy to control and the return to home works really well and was only off by about a foot from where I took it off. Great bit of kit for the money. I would recommend the fly more option as you get a power bank that charges all 3 batteries and the controller in 1 go. The controller is very sturdy and weighty and feels like a premium product. It was handling the breeze like a champ too. Highly recommend it

You might want to read Section 2 of this again @tyron2000 to refresh your memory.

Hence 1.2k. Not going to go where i cant see it lol

Sorry for any confusion @tyron2000

I was referring to this part in Section 2:

You must be able to see your drone or model aircraft clearly enough that you can tell which way it’s facing.

Depending on your eyesight that could be around 100m for a drone that small, rather than 1200m.

It has GPS so the little map shows which way it is facing. Plus its 249g so light weight

The Drone and Model Aircraft Code is quite clear on being able to see the orientation with your eyes - not any other means.

I’m not sure of the relevance of that

Have a read of the code again, link posted above.
