According to the hype yes and has GPS. But I am starting to question it.
Have you got a link to the manual?
Good thinking SirGunner, will def try that, sadly its raining at the moment. Thanks
Hello Jan - I think both you and I have been conned into thinking the Qinux has all these advanced features, which it actually does not have. I canât even get a camera picture from the one I received last week.
In response to another thread I wrote as follows (which you may not have found:
"Hello Chris or anyone else who has interacted with the push to sell/buy a Qinux K8 drone. This is the âold man of the seaâ aka Nereussenex, who has just had such an interaction! Amazed by the capabilities of my palâs DJI drone recently, I decided to buy a Qinux as (according to the advertising) the product could do everything the DJI could do, and loop the loop as well!
The product arrived within 10 days and was up and flying in a light wind spell we had on Friday this week. Not without difficulties, since even 1-2 mph wind made it quite unstable. I was flying off our patio, surrounded by buildings and trees, but managed some controlled crash-landings and even some planned ones. The collision avoidance sensors do not appear to work - or at least, not in the way I expected. Having got this out of the way, then I tried to figure out how to view the wonderful images and video the adverising had promised me. Oh Dear âŚ
The images (although it did not tell me this) can only go to a mobile phone, I suppose, since there is no slot for a card on the drone or the controller, and no socket for any connexion to anything else. So I downloaded the app, which runs fine on an I-phone or an Android, found the wifi supposed connexion to the drone, but also found it was impossible to connect the app to the drone. So I could not receive pictures direct from the drone, and could not get the smartphone to act as remote control.
So I got to work with the mini-screwdriver Qinux had kindly provided and had a peek inside the case of the controller (which, rumour had it, contained RF coils to catch the signals and allow the phone to interact with the drone). Surprise - no such coils, just a plain circuit board with various makeable contacts from the push buttons on the controller, no antennas except for a bit of wire about 2 cm long dangling from the circuit board. I very much doubt that would receive a signal from 200 m away, let alone the 4 km claimed! The two âantennasâ folded onto the outside of the controller were actually black plastic mouldings which looked a bit like antennas but were not!
So, all in all, rather disappointing, as I would not have spent even ÂŁ120 for something that couldnât do pictures at all. So now it is all back in the original boxes and ready to send back for a hoped for 100% refund."
@SirGunner
That makes perfect sense as when you zoom into the controller icon it definitely shows what seems to be a RTH symbol, the downward arrow towards an H?
Edit: just read @Nereussenex bit above and that now seems more likely
Iâm pretty sure there is no GPS chip in the drone, so it cannot Return anywhere. Mine auto landed OK on my terrace several times and I also managed a controlled manual landing on my dining room table when I flew it indoors!
I didnât fly it far enough for it to need GPS to position itself, but even after an auto takeoff, it did not hold position at all well, and there is no procedure for checking if drone is using GPS. There is lots of empty space inside the black hand controller, where you would expect there to be high tech electronics!
The camera up/down buttons worked OK (I mean the camera moved up and down), but I could not get a picture to transmit or store, so I donât even know if the shutter was working.
As I said, I think we have all been conned. It is a simple toy that flies around for 10 minutes on a battery charge, but does nothing more sophisticated than auto takeoff and land.
Hi, both your articles/responses make good reading, and I think my wife was conned into buying me this, their support (in Japan/Hong Kong) is zero, useless even. As they say up North âyou gets what you pays forâ. I have to say that I havent done what SirGunner suggested and tried the Return to Home function. I think I have to agree with you its a toy, a decent one but still a toyâŚ
By the wayâŚif you able to take photos and they only land on your phone, if Im not mistaken they will be in your âPhotosâ folder which should be auto replicated in âGoogle Photosâ. you can then go to a laptop open up âGoogle Picsâ and the photos will be there ready for you to download to your desktop for Editing". Im an amateur photographer and use this everytime I take a pic with my iPhone and want to edit using a 3rd party software etcâŚTry it.!! Hope this helps.
Hello Jan - does this mean you have been successful in downloading photos and video from the Qinux onto your phone, or only âthat this is what I expectâ?
If you have been successful, please tell me how to do it in detail. We have an I-phone we can use for test and also an Android both smartphones which ought to be able to connect wirelessly to the drone, but donât.
I have also received a reply from ecom7-comâs returns department, which offer me another one FoC (no thanks) but if I want more than ÂŁ15 back I have to argue some more and maybe threaten them.
Not such good news, except that at least we are able to communicate.
Hiya⌠Ive done it with photo but not vid, only simply because not tried video. ive attached a silly shot i took just now of my arm, with the drone whilst in front of me on the desk.
The app i downloaded to my iPhone SE is called KY UFO, its only active once the drone is switched on.! Switch on Drone and controller, I then make sure that in WiFi setting on the phone it is showing/added âFlow Wifi IAC53â.
(Switch on the Copter 1st then the Controller) Once App is active take a photo etc, the icon is on the right of the app screen and looks like a camera in a dark circle. See my screen shot when I answered âOnanistâ. Once you take the photo etc it should ask that KY UFO would like to add to your Photo Album⌠click okâŚ
Go to your photo album find the photo(s) . Then go to Google photos on your phone and ensure its synchronised. Once that is done⌠go to Google Pics on the Laptop find the wee beastie you want and down load it your desktop.
You are then free to view and edit to your hearts
contentâŚHope this helps
Hi, have you tried the suppossed solution I posted to you. Personally I think/believe you and I have been scammed, the Qinux H8/K8 is pile of crap and as I said is a toy⌠I have emailed Ecom7 requesting answers if none come then I have told them I shall be intouch with UK Trading Standards and Action Fraud UK⌠hey hoâŚ
Hello Jan - I was away for a couple of days midweek, and so didnât do any more tests until just now. In the meantime, I made a complaint via PayPal and have had my money back, seemingly without having to return the goods.
Tonight I unpacked the drone again and went back to square one. I think I possibly downloaded the wrong app from Google, as it didnât have KY in its name. So tonight I downloaded the right one, and successfully connected my android phone to the drone. I was able to see on my phone what the drone camera was seeing, and was able to take a still photo or two, though I havenât yet figured out the settings. I also was able to record 28 secs of video, though where it is being stored is something of a puzzle, as neither stills nor video appear on my phone album or on Google photos. I was even more surprised when I touched the top of the circular icon on the phone screen and the drone started up and took off, narrowly avoiding the ceiling. Then I was able to use the touch screen on the phone to land it again, without damage, even though I hadnât put the blade protectors on at that stage. So its not a complet bum deal, but as it is now midnight Iâm off to bed. I will do some more with a fully charged battery tomorrow, and try to figure out how to use the controls.
Hiya, well I sent an email to Ecom7 ultimately saying that I would contact Trading STDs and Action Fraud as I believe the drone is a total scam. To date still no reply.

Hello Jan - I did some more tests this morning, and I am beginning to understand Qinux better. It would seem that when you turn on the drone, it creates the wifi connection that listens for a partner - in other words, the drone is the âbossâ. If you then pick up the supplied joystick controller and turn it on, this picks up the connection, and the lights on the drone stop flashing, and you control the drone with the joystick controller.
However, if you pick up your phone, instead of the controller whilst the droneâs lights are flashing, connect the wifi the phone is using to the KY etc ânetworkâ, then run the App, and press Start, then this links the phone to the drone, and pictures from the droneâs camera begin to appear on the phone. When you (on the phone) ask for a photo to be taken, the photo is stored somewhere on the phone, but doesnât appear in the Album (or at least not on mine), and its the same with video, if you (on the phone) change to video rather than stills.
The camera modes are supposedly shifting between 4:3 and 16:9 and telephoto, but at least on the screen of the phone, you canât see much difference between them. The other buttons along the top of the screen deal with the way the incoming pictures are displayed on the phone screen, (and would presumably affect any pictures saved whilst they were active). I guess you can add a music soundtrack - there is no microphone sound with the video recording I think.
If the app is running on the phone, you can look at âInstructionsâ, where you can choose to use a left handed control for up and down and right for fwd, back and sideways, or if you choose right handed, then the on-screen controls are reversed. I donât yet know what the âimpliedâ messages mean.
It was too windy today to use it outside (I tried, but it just hit the house and crashed) so I flew it around the dining room for a while, but found it really difficult to control using the finger-on-screen method, so gave up before I broke it, and went off to do something more useful!
The important bit is that I have not found a way to connect both the joystick controller and the phone to the drone at the same time. And if you are using the joystick controller, then you canât see what the camera is seeing, so any photos do not get recorded.
Good luck, I shall have a play with mine, weather has turned here in Yorkshire so not sure when I shall get out with it.

Hi I doubt it has such a button, although sold as having GPS Mine does not!
Frank where did you buy the drone from?
Hi I bought it online direct from their website. Frank.
Hopefully you can get your money back as its a scam
Yes, thats it. Am I wrong. the H8. and K8 are one and the same thing? The font used looks like an H. Still got problem of 22 second flight, ten drone lands!
