Hi I have a Mini3 Pro which I’ve had several flights and really enjoyed it. My problem is when I get the announcement home point identified check on Map, the map display on the bottom left corner is showing just a blank white. I’m sure when I first had it it showed a map? Am I going something wrong here ?
Sounds like your controller is not paired to your phones hotspot and it can’t therefore connect to the internet to download / display the map for the area you’re stood in
I should have said the I have the RC Pro with the built in screen and not with the attached phone version, sorry for not being clear

How is your controller connected to the internet when you’re out flying Vincent @Typhoon_Class ?
If it’s not, then that’ll be your issue
If you know where you’re flying in advance, you can cache the maps at home before you head out.
Thank you, that’s probably my issue as I’ve changed phones since getting the drone !
@Typhoon_Class
The last update for the DJI RC allows you to download the maps beforehand
The problem with the DJI RC is WiFi and Bluetooth are turned off when flying
Thank you, I’ve got a spare micro SD card (256GB) from when I had an Android phone. The only issue I can see is that you are limited to downloading small sections of maps, do you know of any way I could download a larger map? Thanks
I find the compass view is much more useful than the map.
There’s a time and a place for both.
Is this summary correct?
1 Use SD card but only small area maps available
2 Wi-Fi to phone, default WiFi BT is off when flying but can be switched on at the risk of affecting range/performance of aircraft control.
3 Can the phone be physically connected from lightning port on iPhone to USB C on controller.
Thanks again,
Vince
Hi all
I thought it might be ok to hang my question on the back of this thread rather than start a new topic, ok
So the dji rc pro maps, I’m new to android but know a little, so I see the thing where you can download maps which I think I’m understanding just, however is it true or right, that when your controller & drone are connected with a good gps / satellites locked on, does this show your map or where you are Without having to download the maps , also Not tethered to your mobile device, hope that makes sense, any input would be well appreciated, as I am a little confused compared to as per when I was using my mobile phone, thanks in advance ……
No the GPS is just giving the location, without a map loaded the display would be blank
Thankyou Wayne
I know how too download the maps, I’ve also watched that tutorial in thread before, do I just follow that, then when at said location load the map for specific area,
Be great if I could just download the whole uk map
I update my firmware via USB to my PC, I appreciate the BT connection is lost when flying, If I had a cable from my RC (USB C) to a lightning connector on my iPhone would that give me the internet connection to update my maps?
The rc with the screen ? If so I thought you could tether it to your hotspot on yr phone, then you wouldn’t need a cable, if I’m reading right
The Bluetooth Hot Spot connection is disabled when the drone is in flight to prevent interreference with the controlling the drone.
Does the Rc support USB tethering?
I just watched a video & the guy got his maps loaded to the rc but, not sure about when it’s flying, here’s the video or am I miles off.
Tether your phone before you connect the drone, go to maps and they will be downloaded
then connect and fly
