When I return home after flying, I simply turn on the DJI RC, drag the top edge of the screen down and enable wifi. It automatically connects seconds later. I then click “Profile > More”. At that point I head over to “Airdata > Account > DJI Login” and hit sync. Within seconds the sync is complete.
Start to finish in under a minute, which is fine for me
To be honest, it is all new to me and sharing something that I am unfamiliar with is just that little daunting. It is not that I can’t or wont. I just need to know exactly what I am doing. I do not want to press something and end up sharing something I did not want to share. That is all. I just want to know what I am doing and once I am confident with what a “free” third party sorftware does with my data I will be happy to. When something is free there is usually some sort of gain if that makes sense.
So I just ask that you bear with me. You are all talking from years of experience and I am talking from a few months of just total confusion. I do not want this new hobby to become a strain. So it is like a learning curve. I can see that you are all telling me what I should do. I just have to convince myself that I should do it too. At the moment, I know where it is and also like sounding like a broken record… I know where it is… I just do not have the means to get to it physically.
In all honesty when the guys says, ok you can go over, the chances of it being in my hand is high. The hardest part is to get through the brambles that have been allowed to grow to stop tresspassers.
So I please ask that people understand that in my head, the air data is not needed. I know which tree it is in and can even pin point between what branches it is in from the ground. It is just that there is currently no legal way to get my body there until the person I am dealing with says it is ok.
Should I get there and find that I was totally wrong and share the air data and it is found instantly then I will be the first to hold up my hands and say, yep you were all right and I will have learnt a lesson.
Please please see it from my point of view too. I am not purposly being awkward.
Let me re word it. Someone is at the top of a crane about to do a bungee jump. Everyone else is saying… Do it, we have… It is the thing that is the obvious. Take the plunge. Do it… The amount of things that must go through the persons head. Just cause everyone else says it is right does not mean that in your head it seams right. Should that person take the plunge they will no doubt join the group that said, I was unsure at first but when I did I wondered what I was bothered about.
Does that make sense. To me “at this moment” and I just worried about it all.
Thanks, leave it with me, I am sure I will sort it.
P.S. I will NEVER bungee jump. That was an example so if there are any bungee jumpers out there who wanna say, give it a go… You really will not persuade me on bungee jumps.
I am really sorry if I sound like I do not trust people or anything like that. It is not like that. Just new. Everyone was new once and to be honest sometimes the easy things are hard and the hard things are easy.
Looks like it a little more complex with the mini 3 as you have to start sharing with DJI which once again is more data sharing but also the program does not open up until it connects to the drone anyway.
Unlike the Mini 3 with a standard controller using a phone (i.e. the N1), the Mini 3 “Pro” that uses the DJI RC doesn’t need to have Airdata installed on it. You simply need to you add your Airdata token to the Fly App (on the DJI RC), then connect the DJI RC to wifi. Then go to Airdata to sync the data.
@Foley Dont worry Russ matey. I have signed up to Airdata but as yet never had to use it in anger. I started flying in Jan last year and came across Airdata in a thread here where someone lost their drone. I thought it was a useful tool that could be used in an emergency to find exactly where I had boobed and so I followed the guidance by those that were far more experienced than me (and still are ). I went to Uni’ to do computer studies a long time ago and still have the same anxieties as you probably have before downloading and using new software, but I trust these guys when it comes to these technical matters If you setup your drone accounts and software you can do this easy, but only when your comfortable with it! You will always have the backup of these guys if you get into difficulties, Lord knows they’ve helped me loads of times!
