Am I being stupid here. I can not open the fly ap to get to the settings. If someone has a DJI RC controller, please turn it on without the drone and tell me how to get to the settings. I guess you all connected when you had a drone. I do not have a drone to get the app to detect it and load into the page that has the settings for me to adjust.
The token is only for 3rd party apps like litchi
With The DJI RC, you just need to connect to WiFi and sync the flight logs
and set the permissions in Airdats using a computer

Not sure this is true Chris, do you have a screen shot of the above
To enter settings without your drone connected:
Connection Guide ( bottom right) > Camera View (top right) > 3 dots (top right) …
But … as Wayne @SparkyFPV has just beat me to it, the token isn’t required for Airdata
So what risks are there putting your DJI log in into the Air data program when on a dji forum says 3rd party not reccomeded… I know a lot of companies do not like third party stuff but just wondered

Less risky giving your data to Airdata than DJI
Jokes aside, it is flight data … not personal data.

The Chinese have your data, don’t worry about anyone else
I get that did not know if it can be used to dissassociate a drone from account or something like that.

Nope.
Still trying here. Looking at the control it does now make me see that it is more safer to get to as I can see how far in it is. So that is good from just the controller
We have been doing stuff like this for donkey’s years, just follow what we say its all safe

We have been doing stuff like this for years
Yes. There have been many successful drones rescues on GADC, and in most cases, this has only been possible due to Airdata.
And in those rare times a rescue wasn’t possible, the Airdata still helped us understand what went wrong and how we could prevent it happening again.
And that is just the tip of the iceberg with Airdata. Every drone pilot needs it.

for donkey’s years
Changed it as we are both nearing the yard
Ok well I can only say this once more. On this occasion, air data is not important, I know what went wrong. A tree jumped out in front of me. I know where the drone is but to get to it from the position I was standing would be life threatening (reallly really)… Once I get permission from the land owner I can advance to the tree it is in from a direction that does not involve harnesses, hard hat and the chance of falling from a great height. That is all that is stopping me.
I am going to give up on this for a bit as now all the data has vanished from the controller and not got to air data so now I actually have less information then when I started.
I think I need to step back from this for a minute as it is increasing frustraiting that as much as you all would find airdata for all the other reasons, right now I do not need it. As I said earlier, if I was to get there and find I was wrong then I would put my hands up. I am not exagerrating when I say that the current route to the drone from where I am standing would be life threateneing or could end up me being seriously injured. However once the person give me permission to go at it from the other direction my biggest injury will most likely be a couple of cuts from brambles.
I have no idea what happened to what was on the control, before I started this I could see the map and the flight direction etc. Now every flight is not there so I am worse off.
Thanks for the help but on this occasion the further I go into it the worst it gets. I was going to show the land owner what was on the control and it would have sufficed. Can not do that now so I have to leave it before I lose anything else.
Thanks

Unfortunatly I knew that it was operator error. I misjudged the flight. I am totally at fault. I can see by the flight video of the crash which is on my controller.
Pretty annoyed at myself.
Happened now
Not a lot I can do eh? Just need to get over when he says he has time and get access from the other side, take a big stick or hope it fell to the ground. Failing that, tree person.

We have been doing stuff like this for donkey’s years
Yes, i get that and understand what you are saying. I have been doing this for less then a morning so I just do not know exactly what I am doing and despite people telling me, it did not go exactly as expected. I could wire the Birminhgam NEC with sound and lighting for a complete concert, I could do pretty much most of the things that were involved to set up the Commonwealth games and run a complete 256 channel multiple universes and run it sequences sound to light, I can fix PC, wire electrics and do most things. I wired a mains plug safe at the age of 6. Loads of experience but… finding this difficult and have asked to bear with me. I am really struggling and it is getting worse so whilst you are asking me to go with what you are saying, I am trying to say that I am struggling and It just is not as easy for someone who has only started doing this in the last hour or two compared to people doing it for years.
So for now to avoid losing anything else I should leave alone, once the drone is back then I will not be fussed if I lose anything.
I am so so so thankful for the help. You would not realise how much I am happy for the help. But I am a total novice and I am learning. So again, please bear with me.
Also please understand that things can me miss read in the way they were meant and whilst a couple of comments have appeared harsh they were probably not mean that way but I guess you are getting frustraited with me for just being cautious.
Apologies if any upset caused. Really not meant. Should the land owner be happy with me posting the location of the drone then I am happy to but just would not want people just turning up becuase I announced it on the internet.
Gonna look at what went wrong but carefully as I did have a list of flights and they went when the controller logged out.
Foley, did you manage to find your flight logs on the RC ? If you did, the top one will be your last flight
What is wierd is (although I did not know what it was exactly the dji user on the controller looks different.
Now says i have 0 hours - distance - 0 and flights 0. There were over 100 flights there before.
Here’s how to find flight data off the RC without the drone. Turn it on. Once started press “profile” . On the left hand side of the screen there’s a box with user, at the bottom of that box there’s the word “more” click that and your flight logs should appear. The top flight log will be your last flight ( assuming you don’t have another drone bound to the controller and have flown that since)
