RTF Competition December 26th to January 8th - Monochrome Landscapes - WINNERS announced

The idea behind the photos being judged by the contestants and other GADC members is to allow the wiggle room to be self adjusting. If a picture is judged by many to fall outwith of the parameters then it will not attract many votes.

This competition ends in a few minutes with 30 plus entries. All can be claimed as landscapes, though some feature remote countryside, others foreground buildings, sea or city skylines. The votes may sort out which are deemed to be “true” landscapes.

And no if about the next subject. The image and description posted four minutes after the poll closed showed that you voted for WINDMILLS as the next subject. No doubt we can have a nice controversy over whether multi-vaned pumps and bladed wind turbines constitute mills …

That is tricky, as the comp is over 2 weeks. For example, 2 weeks ago, I submitted Scratchbury Camp as my entry, but today, I want to submit a new entry as I believe it is the “best” out of the two.

To the letter, in my opinion. For this RTF, the title allows a lot of freedom, whereas the next one does not.

I like the idea of self adjusting!
Yep, I thought windmills was a safe, can’t argue about it, sort of a subject!
Aargh!:joy:

So you now have two pictures for judging. You can leave the first one in as a “banker” but will it dilute the votes and draw attention away from your other picture? Should you go for broke and request only your best picture be included in the poll as you believe in its quality?

The rules allow for as many images as you wish with just a recommendation that, to stave off boredom, each image be markedly different from your other entries.

As in “self adjusting” handbrake? Looks like you have never suffered ownership of a 1970’s BL vehicle!

As I mentioned earlier, please submit this as my entry only. And again, my preference would be for a single entry for each comp. I am sure Chall Com would benefit from this too

For completeness, yes.

Pretty sure this was discussed in another comp thread. I’m all for one entry per person too :+1:

Ok - that is slightly ambiguous as you have the option of more than one entry.

Are you saying that you only want one entry in this competition?

You’re right, it was. Alas, that was a year ago, and with festivities and alcohol in between, it would seem we have forgotten what we agreed :man_facepalming:

2 weeks focuses the mind as to which one to submit! You can always ask the kindly committee to delete an earlier entry. I don’t think they mind too much? :crossed_fingers:t3:
I agree, I think the title should be adhered too. That’s why I was interested to see what folks think. Personally I don’t think landscapes has got a huge amount of wriggle room, but then I thought windmills was a clearly defined entity, but Chall Comm post above tells me otherwise. Now I’m wondering where I can find a “ multi vaned pump”
I fear my search might be in vane/vain. :joy::joy::joy:

Ha! I learnt on my Dad’s mini in 1970!

Just the last one please. I do like the first one, but personally, as I have stated above (and as @Drumsagard has mentioned) in the last RTF too, I think it would be easier for me, you and everyone else if there was only ‘one’ post that is entered. Don’t mean to labour the point. And again, happy to go with whatever is decided.

We have done our best to get the poll up within minutes of the competition ending, as usual. However we were not helped when dropping into Chall Com HQ while on our way to the regular senior management car key comparison party.

The only two operatives not currently laid low by the Omicron virus were discovered were found roaming the lower corridors, semi-clothed and giggling hysterically at the funny colours (sic) displayed by this competition’s entries. A cursory investigation of the main office revealed a large quantity of empty Covonia (Tickly Cough) Linctus bottles and a waste paper basket full of Hall’s Mentho-Lyptus wrappers.

So apologies if the poll is a little less polished than normal, we hope it does not affect your enjoyment of the voting process. As always you may vote for all, one, some or none of the entries; the poll is open until 22:00 on Monday 10th January 2022. Lots more entries than I expected. Well done to those that got out. The winds just haven’t let up for me during this whole competition window. Well winds that the Mini can handle that is.

Do we have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ not to vote for our own images ?

We don’t monitor the votes to see who has voted for whom. There is no mechanism to stop you voting for your own image except your own particular set of ethics. For some reason the Prisoner’s Dilemna comes to mind …

my preference too… with the entrant stating before closing date/time which of their submitted entries is to be taken through to the ‘final list’
:slightly_smiling_face:

yes :slightly_smiling_face:

I never do, but I thought that was in the rules anyway or is that the editing comp I’m thinking of?
