RTF Competition January 7th to 20th 2024 - Underneath

That was a very close run thing, we suspect that the poll software was fooled by a hanging chad in making the decision. But, as countless sub-postmasters and mistresses will attest - the computer is never wrong

We hope the weather improves enough for you to get out and take some pictures for this RTF. 24 of you voted and the winning subject was Underneath. Will 24 or more of you enter your best images?

So - to business.

These are the rules.

Read them. keep to them and tears before bedtime will be avoided …

RTF RULES
Scope

The requirement is to submit a still image created using a drone to illustrate the subject of the competition. This round will run from 00:01 Sunday 7h January3 to 23:00 Saturday 20h January 2024 and the subject is Underneath.

The image must be captured during the time that the competition is open. It is a Reason To Fly competition so please show that the image is created by a flying camera!

Editing is confined to colour and exposure adjustments and crop only. There must be no removal or pasting of an object.

Please post only one image, the image you wish to be judged, in this thread.

Images must be posted with the following information as a minimum:

In Capitals as the first line of your post:

THIS IS MY ENTRY

If this is not done at the time of posting the picture will be ignored. Should it be absolutely necessary to change your picture then delete the previous picture and add “This is my entry” - as above - as the first line of your new post. If in any doubt contact the Challenges Committee
(@Challenges_Committee)

Further Information is required

  • Location
  • Time and date
  • Aircraft/camera used
  • Feel free to add any further information that you think will be of interest

Voting

Images will be judged by the members of GADC who may vote for any number of images by means of an anonymous poll open for two days after the closing date for competition entries.

Voting in the poll is open to all GADC members, whether they have entered the competition or not.

You may vote for one, all, some or none of the entries.

The original media may be requested by the judges in case of a dispute.

Schedule

The competition subject will be announced every second Saturday around 22:30. The subject will be chosen by a poll of GADC members selecting from three that have been picked at random from the subject list. You may make additions to the list at any time.

The competition will run from Sunday 00.01 to Saturday 23.00 fourteen days later. Voting by poll will be open for a further two days until Monday 22:00

The winner, second and third-placed competitors will be announced shortly after the vote is closed

Have Fun! Be Safe!

All flights are the sole responsibility of the individual conducting them. Each competitor must abide by the drone code and adhere to the limitations and restrictions imposed upon them by aviation law, the aircraft being used and the qualifications they hold. Landowners’ wishes and permissions must be respected. If a flight is undertaken in a restricted zone proof of permission having been granted is required.

Well, I didn’t vote for “underneath”, but I have promised myself to make more of an effort this year so I am now on the lookout for suitable locations!!!

Well done to the few that managed to do the night shots. After waiting 2 weeks for the rain and wind to subside, I too will venture out and fly. Good luck everyone.

With the number of newbies flying in conditions they shouldn’t have been there could well be a couple of underneath the water shots this time :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Just a question Guy @speedracer66. Are they original sun rays? Or have they been added in post.

Good Pic though :+1:

Totally original. There’s an old brick railway bridge to the left of the shot and the sun was setting the other side of it.

No worries mate👍. They just looked kinda unnatural, probably my old eyes…

This is the original SOOC jpg - and the bridge that caused the effect.

Love the Kermit on that original, sound thatđź‘Ť.

I had a little tour around where I live about six months ago, taking snaps of all the subbies with graffiti. Some great artists out there. Got a few Banksies dotted around the house (copies obviously).

Sorry, but seeing the original image with the sun rays just makes it look worse🤣. I think it’s the angle and just how they abruptly stop. Like I say, it’s probly just me and me dodgy eyes. No offence mate👍

They don’t abruptly stop - there’s a clear arc on the roof and slightly less clearly on the upright which is the shape of the rail bridge.

Just want to add, on this subject I entered a field I am very familiar with, where i stood directly underneath the drone & cables with perfect sight at all times, with a height of 35 feet to stay safe, I also kept fingers on sticks ready to pull in at all times, this was not done recklessly .
