RTF Drone Photo Competition May 25th to June 9th - Roads - Winners Announced

The subject, chosen by popular vote from a random selection of three of the subjects chosen by you is Roads. Please note that an additional two days have been allowed due to potential disruption caused by the Big Meet.

The Rules are helpfully in the same size and typeface as the rest of the GADC site so you should have no trouble reading them:

RULES

The requirement is to submit a still image created using a drone to illustrate the subject of the competition. This round will run from 00:01 Sunday 25th May until 23:00 MondayJune 9th; the subject is Roads

The image must be captured during the time that the competition is open. It is a Reason To Fly competition so please show that the image is created by a flying camera!

Editing is confined to colour and exposure adjustments and crop only. There must be no removal or pasting of an object.

Please post only one image, the image you wish to be judged, in this thread.

Images must be posted with the following information as a minimum:

In Capitals as the first line of your post:

THIS IS MY ENTRY

If this is not done at the time of posting the picture will be ignored. Should it be necessary to change your picture then delete the previous picture and add “This is my entry” - as above - as the first line of your new post. If in any doubt contact the Challenges Committee
(@Challenges_Committee)

Further Information is required

  • Location
  • Time and date
  • Aircraft/camera used
  • Feel free to add any further information that you think will be of interest

Voting

The members of GADC will judge images. They may vote for any number of pictures through an anonymous poll open for two days after the closing date for competition entries.

Voting in the poll is open to all GADC members, whether they have entered the competition or not.

The judges may request the original media in case of a dispute.

Schedule

The competition subject will be announced every second Saturday around 22:30. The subject will be chosen by a poll of GADC members selecting from three that have been picked at random from the subject list. You may make additions to the list at any time.

The competition will run from Sunday 00.01 to Monday 23.00 sixteen days later. Voting by poll will be open for a further two days until Wednesday 22:00

The winner, second and third-placed competitors will be announced shortly after the vote is closed

Have Fun! Be Safe!

All flights are the sole responsibility of the individual conducting them. Each competitor must abide by the drone code and adhere to the limitations and restrictions imposed upon them by aviation law, the aircraft being used and the qualifications they hold. The jackpot is in the handle of a normal fruit machine. If a flight is undertaken in a restricted zone proof of permission having been granted is required.

We Did So even I forgot seems like yonks ago

Roads are good, there’s loads where I live :joy::joy::joy:

No roads round here, just lots of holes. Do they count?

Yes! It seems they are an essential component in road maintenance these days.

Ahh yes, a few months back I hit a pothole coming back from the reservoir RTF challenge. Cost me two new tyres. Derbyshire County Council do not make it easy to claim though. They want two independent quotes, photos of the pothole, damage etc, before even entertaining a claim.
As I needed my car on the road, I just got two tyres and had the steel rims straightened.

No doubt we did.

The subjects aren’t deleted from the pool once selected so the Randomizer™ may well pick subjects more than once.

You then have a chance to vote for the subject of your choice from the three selected by the Randomizer™. The potential subjects this time were Roads, Follies and Blue, the majority of the GADC members who voted plumped for the safety of a previous subject rather than take up the challenge of Follies or Blue as themes to illustrate

Useless info but would have been better if winter then the trees would have been bare & a lot more of this windy hairpin road would have been visible , so I had to crop in ah well all for fun

Should’ve asked the local Toby to help out with the trees! The other two guys are otherwise engaged for a few years :joy:

Nice photo BTW

Looking south from the car park at Gyn Square, with Dixon road snaking up the middle towards the town centre & railway station, prom on right. In far distance the Ribble Estuary with Southport on the far bank (ok you may need to use a bit of imagination for that one ).

Just as I took off and was ascending to take this piccy, a mob of some 20 - 30 sea gulls appeared from nowhere, completely surrounding the drone, however didn’t appear to bother about it so I just carried on and the carried on their way with a great deal of squawking.

We are guessing that it’s a stretch of the M40 - between Stokenchurch and Lewknor?
