Scottish Meet - 4th August at Loch Lomond and The Trossachs

As suggested above, I’m a definite “maybe”. My brother and sister-in-law are with us for the first week of Edinburgh Festival, but if I can persuade them that a shopping visit to Balloch would be fun, I’ll be there.

I’ve flown from the lochside pathway there without any difficulties, but neither was it spectacular…

Hoping for half-decent weather…

Yip. Ive been having a look around for possible meeting places with easy car parking and somewhere for food and drink.
Maybe all meet up in the morning, exchange ideas for where to fly in the area. Maybe meet up mid afternoon for more food unless people want to bring something with them so they dont have to stop?
St Peters Seminary isnt too far away and worth a visit for fpv

Is that still accessible?

Never been but always fancied it.

Not too far from Helensburgh either:

A mini Edinburgh (grid system), but with better ice cream…

It was last year when I visited. The Carman Road access was blocked, but I drove up by the golf course from Barrs Road and got pretty close with the van, then a five minute walk. Was a little worried that someone might lock the gate behind me. If I visit again I’d probably park further away and have have a bike in the van. I added it to Drone Scene last May. I’d like to go back and spend more time exploring inside.

So it would appear there is still access!!!

Let me know if your going back to it.

Need to see it before they lock it up.

If I’m over that way on this meet, then I will definitely be paying it another visit for an hour or two. Could probably spend the whole day there to be honest!!! @callum .

I would suggest somewhere like Alexandria or Dumbarton for meeting up? There will be more parking available and most of it is council run and free  The nearer we get to Loch Lomond, especially if the weather is good, the busier it will be and parking around there can be a nightmare.
Maybe @Drumsagard will also have some ideas?

Have the kelpies removed their “no drone zone” signs

I don’t really know Alexandria or Dumbarton that well. Only time I’ve flown at Dumbarton was at the castle. Parking is available at a small car park beside the bowling club and the road in, might also be available at the footie stadium, not sure. TOAL was from the beach. Flying out over the water does give a great view of the Castle.
A Sunday during the day at Loch Lomond, if the weather is good, can be a nightmare for traffic. Places around Loch Lomond with large car parks are Duck Bay, Balloch Castle Country Park, Balmaha, Millarrochy Bay, Tarbet, but again if it’s a good day, will be busy.

Dumbarton Castle - TOAL was just out of pic on the beach to the right.

Yep. There are now signs at the Helix welcoming responsible drone flights.

Bugger…I have to work that weekend now
Ach well…maybe next time

I’d be up for it as well, I’m from Aberdeen, so it would be a great idea as travelling all the way to the previous meets is too far for me to travel.

Great idea
I’m over in Cupar Fife but could travel around the central belt .

Dave

So, are we all ready for next Sunday?

Updated the title since some (like me) may have missed the “decision” … that took me a little searching for.

Is there a time? … and a more precise meeting point?

I am busy looking at suitable parking/meetup places right now. No time as of yet but I would suggest sometime around around 9-10
And cheers for changing the title, it had slipped my mind :+1:

meeting place. Ample parking, free and easy to find.

Loch Lomond Shores

I aim to be there 9am, hope some of you can too. Have a chat about good spots to fly and then go fly them. Meet back up later in the day? Any other suggestions welcome.

“I’ve parked there too, @DazC” … to follow a theme elsewhere.
