Finished moding / pimping the Radiomaster Pocket this afternoon.
Replaced the rear cover with a transparent blue.
Transplanted the switches and small circuit board.
Transplanted the switches and small circuit board.
Installed a BetaFPV COB LED light strip, to the inside of the front case.
Then soldered the wires to 5V & Ground pads on the bottom left of the main board.
Put it all back together and tested everything worked ok.
Job done.
I didn’t think up or work out, how to do this mod, I followed a simple YT video.
Hey all, hope you are doing well. Just dropping in to share some bits and bobs.
Upgraded the flight controller on the Grinderino to an HD Zero Halo removing the final Speedy Bee components from that build
Component comparison:
Speedy Bee mini F4 FC -> HD Zero mini H7 FC
Speedy Bee Mini 35A ESC -> Skystars KM55 55A ESC
Speedy Bee TX800 VTX -> HD Zero Freestyle v2
Speedy Bee Nano receiver -> Gemini On the FC
Also turned the ESC sideways for some more room, which had planned to do the first time but the connector to the FC wasn’t long enough and was too lazy at the time to make one.
Definitely worth the effort as the MIPI isn’t stressed anymore and I can fit the capacitor behind the camera now, although the buzzer is still foam taped to its butt..
I also grabbed one of these really cheap AIO’s for £34 (NeutronRC AT32F435) and used a bunch of spare parts to build out the little Impulse RC Alien frame.
In the wind I could hear the faint whispers of @Cedric saying “bro please heat the iron, your soldering’s sucks”, and so I vowed to make a little more effort this time.

The frame has only 20x20 mounting (AIO is 25.5), and with no space in the rear for a VTX I made use of some 3D printed offsets. Chose PET-CF for the high heat resistance, and used the very slim double sided tape that comes with the HD Zero VTX, to fasten the SpeedyBee VTX with as low a profile as possible.
It just about fits though I still have a small bulge in the centre of the top plate from the VTX plug.
Overall am very pleased with how it came out.
Finally, the RX signal on the Mobula 8 was always poor but last weak it stopped receiving signal entirely, so I repurposed the Nano receiver for the whoop, and it works great.
Thanks for entertaining this show and tell, much love as always, happy flying ![]()
This is looking so gorgeous, nice work brother.
Designing a case for the Runcam Thumb 2. This is just the base model as want to add
more protective geometry, but prefer to test some real world things before refining.
Grinderino looking like a proper freestyler now ![]()
It’s all modelled with boolean ops in ZBrush, so not a remix and no AI obviously ![]()
Added a few features I didn’t see on others like reinforced joint at the lens extrusion, small air pocket for underside vent, and rear guide that locks it in. Am doing a flipped version with exposed sd port and easier release for the cam, but with this config neither card nor cam is going anywhere and I like that.
Final plan is for a bando friendly take with extra padding and external air pockets, borrowing inspiration from the “bandoproof” go pro designs by YanikFPV and similar.
Love to hear if anyone uses this cam, and what they like or didn’t like about cases they went with?
Much love.
Got a number of these right up to the latest model and love them ![]()
Oh that is great to know, cheers! Had seen some poor reviews initially with one more recently that really did it justice so was hopeful.
I’ve not been able to get out and test properly as weather been sporadic, just a very quick run without MD filter.
I grabbed a Prograde u3 v60 sd card which sounds like should be ok for 4k/60, and am watching some vids on giroflow, looking forward to seeing what I can do with it.
All tips welcome! ![]()
I found a YT video on it and the best settings, if I can find it I will forward on …
Just started to strip down my old Iflight protek25, first fpv I brought. Not used it in a while so thought I’d up cycle it and squeeze it into a Crux35 frame.
Was planning on replacing the naked Vista with a naked 03, but need a conversion kit. So stuck with my vista making it super lightweight, not sure how the motors will perform though ![]()
Now fully built and maiden with a bit of tweaking it will be a cracking little freestyler. Just need to sort the jello out and the bloody picture as anything green looks pink through my goggles.
Think iv had this issue before, just can’t remember how I resolved it, I’m sure there is a post on here …
Whoops!..I seemed to have slipped and fallen on a Grinderino 3.5 build!!
Accidents will happen…
Here’s hoping it flies a lot better than Tweedledum (who has since been downgraded to a 2 inch frame) and as good as Tweedledee (frickin’ savage!)
Praying for a non rainy day ![]()
Well after thoroughly testing the Crux iv made a few alterations, this is mainly to the camera as the greens had gone pink in the display.
After hours of research I discovered this is down to a tiny filter on the back of the camera lens. Iv now upgraded to a vista pro instead of the Caddx ant, great picture now but this meant redesigning the TPU camera mount.
I also fitted tri blade props to gain a bit more grip in the turns..
I broke 1 of the antennae tubes as there quite fragile, so while brain an alternative iv come up with the perfect solution.
Lollipop sticks:+1:t3:
just got to find some now ..
