So... what's on your bench at the moment?

Looks good mate :+1:t3:

My Beavers are multiplying…

I wanted to upgrade my old QAV210, but the frame would not take a HDZero Freestyle VTX… so I’ve had to move the whole lot over. In the process I found the top plate had broken and the stack screws were bent. So a good move,

FC, ESC and motors work so far… I think I’ll continue another night,

She died :sob:

Shes gone on strike after all those live cam shows you keep making it do Wayne :scream:

As I’m transplanting the FC and ESC of my old Martian to the new AOS 5 frame, unsoldered, and giving them a bath before going in…

Will be replacing in the old martian with a new Speedy Bee stack.

Also when taking off the top… the “new” martian frame… oops, have a spare top plate for that, might even use the old one from the “dead” frame that snapped, lol

Both me and @clinkadink had noticed the front two screw holes on top plate aren’t counter sunk. Interesting that one, we’re guessing that it’s probably for strength at the front, or maybe (less likely) as go pro and the like mounts will go.

Anyways, the O3 fits in like a beaut

Never seen counter sunk holes on a drone plate.

There ya go… A thing of beauty… And weakness added…

TBH being my first “decent” frame, the smoothness of the carbon fibre compared the finger cutting martian, is lovely

Does look nice. I’ve been rubbing my chin and pondering the AOS7 frame for a while to replace my vibration-fest TBS Source One 7". I’m finding it hard to justify £90 though for a frame change that may or may not help.

£90 sounds a lot. Think this 5 was £65, is that a lot for a “decent” frame? (I’ve only bought aliexpress cheapo before!)

There’s not a lot to it and not got the RX yet, so holding off on that before working out where everything goes. Seems solid though, and the edges… soooooo smoooth… lol

All done. Two Beavers is better than one!

My first big quad with BlueJay on it. BF 4.4. Freestyle VTX, etc…
I hadn’t realized that camera was a Nano V1… well this quad will probably be the first of mine to get the 90fps camera anyway…

She is resurrected :grinning:

What broke Wayne?

The board, it was giving a constant max temp error and wouldn’t start up, at first I thought it was something simple like the thermistor’s but when tested with a meter they where fine. More diagnosis led me to the board, I even tried recompiling the firmware to use a different pin on the STM32 CPU (which is still work in progress) but that didn’t work

Learnt a lot about 3D printers in a few weeks of owning one :grinning:

The compiling and altering the firmware is interesting, it havs various diagnostics built into it you just have to find it in the code to use it
And its fully open-source :+1:

Started building my ‘Believer’ Vee-tail plane.
Slow and steady on this one, no rush, but targeting to have it flying well for the Big Meet 2023 :crossed_fingers:

Now have most of the parts for the 2-3S RS1108 build.

  • 3" BetaFPV Twig XL Frame
  • AtomRC Exceed F411 FC
  • 4x 20A Chaos ESC
  • 4x Emax RS1108 6000kv Motors
  • HQ 2.5x2x3V2S (Biggest Props I have, so will use these until I get some bigger props)
  • Matek Micro PDB 80A
  • FrSky Vantac ELRS RX
  • HM OVX303 VTX
  • Caddx Ant Nano
  • XT30 Battery Wire with 100uf Cap
  • BetaFPV Dipole Antenna for the Vantac
  • BetaFPV Canopy (which might be too small for this build)

Will be looking at starting it this weekend.

Nice one dude. Seems like you’re up for some fun on the weekend lol

I started cataloguing all the parts for my various builds and apart from being short of a couple of cams, I actually have pretty much all the parts needed now to build the 1002 and 1202.5 as well. The 1202.5 11500kv could be built on a 5A FC, although I want to run it on a 12A just so I can use it on 2S occasionally. The 1002 will be using a 12A AIO that I already have. Most of my missing parts are props, cams and antennae.

How are your builds doing at the minute?

Wow, increasing the fleet by 3 in one go… nice!!

I’m still working on fine tuning the current project. I’m building a new canopy to house the Turtle board so that it doesn’t look like a Big-Mac stack…

Once that is done I don’t have anything else to build. I might swap the frame for a new one I saw (the TuneRC toothpick frame), but that’s it.

I have some idea of what to build next already, it will be a freestyle sub250 build, but I might start out buying something like the crux35 and than just substitute the frame and eventually components as they fail, not sure yet though.

It all depends on what the budget will allow as well.

In reality I actually have enough bits to do 5. I also have two broken whoops that needed new FC’s. I have two spare 5A F3CrazybeeFR FC from dronejunkie. So that will bring the Moblite and Meteor65 back online. If I did all my builds I would end up with five or six flyable quads, of which three are new builds, two are repairs and one is a rebuild. And I have one future build planned for this summer using a 1404 or 1407 (or I might do both). Ten is the max. I don’t want to end up with a room full of quads like you see on the various youtube channels.
