Does the dji hd fpv system have a gps unit in the goggles or vtx?
I’ve said it before mate but all this registration and electronic ID was on the cards long before Gatwick.
It’s all part of the EU/EASA U-Space project which is basically traffic management for commercial, hobby UAV and manned aviation.
It’s more about managing traffic over populated areas for delivery drones etc rather than a few guys flying quads in a field.

@callum Are you concerned that the commercialisation of drones (eg Amazon, Uber eats etc) will bully the hobbyist into smaller areas to enjoy their past time? Because they want the free airspace to make money via deliveries?

I dont get worried with what might happen as 99% of the time it never does.
I’d rather just enjoy the hobby now rather than worry about the future.
The EASA draft regs have been pretty balanced in maintaining access for hobbyists.
I really cant see it becoming common place over here, just look at the problems Uber is having just keeping a taxi license in London.
Personally I think there will always be a place for recreational flyers.

Wing, the drone delivery company owned by Google’s parent company Alphabet, is launching its first public drone delivery service in Canberra, Australia after the country’s aviation authority granted it regulatory approval.
Wing predicts that drone deliveries could be worth as much as AU$30 to AU$40 million to businesses in the area, and says drones could deliver as many as one in four takeaway orders by 2030.
That amount of money - means these companies take a looooooooooooooooong view of things 
They don’t see this a potential market - rather money that’s being lost while they’re not leveraging the tech.
Personally, I’d love to order a bikini wax kit at 9pm and have it arrive at 10pm
