Thank you. It really did confuse me. As you can tell I’m super new to drones and flying.
Where abouts in Tenerife are you staying ? I ask as there’s lots of areas where flying isn’t allowed. Check the rules too. You’re not allowed to fly over businesses ( that covers almost all of the tourist resorts, hotels, bars, shops etc) Teide National Park is another area where flying isn’t allowed. No night time flights allowed at all.
We go to Tenerife at least twice a year and a few times I’ve been sorely tempted to take my drone with me, but I’m hesitant because of the rules abroad. Last thing I want is a fine, having my drone taken off me, or spending a night in jail.
Not true
You will need to input your UAS remote identification number into the app to enable the drone to take off
@Joshua watch this
My bad, I assumed that part was a given
Thank you Sparkyws am gonna check this now. your advice is appreciated thank you.
After checking there is no option for UAS Remote Identification under the safety setting on the remote. So I’m unable to input my operators id in the section.
That option might only become available / visible once the drone detects it’s in a country with RID requirements
It won’t be an option till you get to Tenerife as RID is geo-based so it is not active here
It’s not your U/K operator ID,
It is a operator ID supplied by EASA with a 3-digit security code
Ah ok that’s understood. I found the video very useful Iv also checked out the DJI Forums for more information on that. The joys of being a new drone owner.
You are better asking here
I’m staying in Puerto de la Cruz. Although Iv booked a car for the two week so can get any where on the island.
Iv spent some time researching this remote ID requirement and although iv been tempted to get it I’m also now thinking not to bother.
Just spent 8 days in Tenerife took mini4 pro and managed to fit in 33 flights at various locations around the island. Southern Tenerife has a very large restricted area that extends from playa de Las Americas to Marazull this is due to Helidream helicopters . They tend to do up to 3 pleasure flights a day from their base in Adeje. I contacted them by e mail and requested permission for drones flights in their airspace. They sent me a form to complete “Formulario vuelos con Rpas” very easy to complete had permission granted by e mail within 10 minutes of send the form to them. If anyone needs assistance completing the request form please contact. I can forward you the completed form I sent them. The best location I found to fly was San Andres ( if you arrived by plane at Tenerife South you would have been given a free map from Tenerife Perla. the beach is on the cover of the map) Still sorting out images will post some when I get then edited
Above is copy of completed form returned to Helidreams
I’m really enjoying my time flying my Drone in Tenerife.
The Spanish National Police and Guardia Civil have been brilliant with me.
The help support and communication between different offices in different parts of the island where they’ve all worked together and communicated in such way where there was two incident were 2 locals reported a flying object and the police local knew straight away who it was, everything was in order all my paperwork all my documents insurances my European Operaters ID added to my controller. My EASA proof of training done by my MySrS was available to view.
I was told they had two reports today and because I acted and spoke to the authorities before flying, they said , “you’ve notified us and you’ve been given permission” nothing to be concerned about. spoken in English and Spanish I’m pleased I was told I can continue over the next 10 days flying, providing I give them 24 hours and what part of the island I will be flying the drone. using my DJI Air 3. It’s been a great experience so far.
shame I can’t add a little video of my drone flying here to show you.
That’s good news & great to hear your enjoying it & yourself with no dramas,
Is this your first time flying abroad or first time flying & abroad
It’s my very first time flying abroad. It’s deffo not my last time . and to add Iv met some new none English speaking people whome I would never meet If I wasn’t taking the drone out.
Sunday night off the strip the bars will be full of them
Welcome to GADC. I love the Reefy
Glad your enjoying yourself & do enjoy the rest of your vacation & keep flying
Thank you. I will do
Why not
I simple don’t know how to do it. I need to start using and learning more about this site it’s full potential and great stuff and if the site can give users that option to share videos then that would be brilliant cause someone asked me tonight where in Tenerife I’ve been flying and wanted to share the footage just didn’t know how to. I’ve been flying in a few locations and have some nice newbie style footage. I am really new to drown flying like I said but yeah, if it’s is an option and if there’s a way to share I’m willing to post it.
