Coal House Fort at E. Tilbury. Defending the pinch point at the River Thames for centuries.


Disused since 1970 but restored - All Saint’s Church, E. Horndon, Essex.

It was super windy 16mps. It was a case of get up and get back down again. But yes your right, I do plan on going back.

Summer recon continues - I visited the site of the oldest church in England which is near to where I live. It’s called the Chapel of St Peter’s on the wall, and it’s in Bradwell on Sea in Essex. It was built in 645AD on the site of an old Roman fort which was there to defend against marauding Saxons. Salt Marshes and the sea on one side and fields on the other.

Only the main church remains now as the nave etc is long gone.

Added bonus was the gloomy skies in the distance over the wind turbines…:slight_smile:
