The Daily Video Thread

A gentle meander up the beach when lockdown started … a little bit different to the chaos of a week or so back …

Nothing special …

Filmed with my Mavic Mini (now sold) …

Very nice - I used to live in that part of the world and do miss being on the coast.

Did you trade up for something bigger/better?

Moved up to MA2 … just too much wind at the coast for the little mini to handle most days…

Took my mini to wareham forest Tuesday evening to get a bit of the aftermath of the fire- was a tad windy in the early twenties @ 50m so planned to keep it as low as possible. Didn’t realise there was so many power lines running through it (try seeing them on your screen on a bright day!) so took it up to 70m to be sure I’d miss them and it handled the wind admirably.
At one point, going into the wind in sport mode it was down to 5m/s. Apart from the constant wind warnings, it came back with the wind no issues- only downside was reduced flight time due to the extra power needed in those conditions.
How are you finding the MA2 compared?

Biggest differences are range , managed over 4km on the ships , and the fact you have complete trust in its ability to handle the stronger winds so pretty much nerve free flying … with the mini I was always nervous especially over water .,no such fear now…

I’m very happy with my MM at the moment, but having watched so many ‘Flyaway MM’ videos on YouTube, I’m being very cautious. No doubt, at some point, I’ll be looking at a upgrade to something with a bit more grunt… and ‘nerve free’ flying!

Fabulous video well composed :+1:

Just a bit of fun… How’d you get you tube to play higher rez?

Higher than 1080?

Last time I uploaded 4K it took about 2 hours before it was available at 4K on YT
I’ve been told it can take as long as 24/48 hours though

So is this at 1080 then? I just watched it back. Prob my connection making it look crappy…?

On a mobile device? By default the YT app is limited (to save data) - you can go to setting and change the default resolution.

so this happened on last nights flight

Had you booked your flight on Drone Assist?
If so I’d be tempted to report it for inadaquate distance :astonished:

yep, did the NATS thing, checked all the normal stuff, it was so quick, fly in that location for last 6 years never seen any other flyers

Low flying manned aircraft are a far bigger hazard than high-flying unmanned aircraft, in my view. See recent discussion here for a brief pointer towards the legalities, although there are exceptions to every rule, especially for emergency services, military etc. I’m not sure how much value reporting our planned flights on NATS actually is!

I think it shows you’re a responsible operator.

…and if something goes wrong, that display of responsibility will go in our favour
