The Great Big GADC 6th Birthday and Treasure Hunt Challenge!

NO!

The idea is to introduce yet another difficult element to the Challenge. Your fellow competitors might take pity on you and disclose the answers but it makes no sense for those who wish to retain an advantage …

The answers will be revealed at the end of the contest. Until then no indication will be made on the scoresheet as to whether a competitor has captured the correct colour object or not. If they have done so the points re added at the end.

You are of course free to wander the highways and byways of East Ayrshire and to stop random passers-by to see whther they can give you an answer …

Nice work 4 points awarded

For those who remember my unofficial spreadsheet from last year - it is back!

Early days, but my guess on the scores are as follows

Please remember this is unofficial, and I am basing it on my infant school maths, but thankfully all the columns are automatically filled, assuming I enter the correct points in the other section for items 1 to 25!

The ā€˜entries missed’ is populated automatically towards the end as the clock runs out of time… as you can only post 2 items a day.

The official score sheet will always take priority, but believe it or not the committee are also human.

We are ChatGPT mate!

Thanks for the info Ian, it shows that one of the things to try and avoid is the dropping of tpp many bonuses. At the moment the strike rate should be one photo every two days if people are looking to capture all subjects by end of play.

Of course it will pay dividends in the expenditure of time and money if peopler can schedule a number of locations reasonably close to one another that can be shot on the samer day …

I asked AI about the cryptic questions - it simply replied…

Not another one from GADC!

That’s the only one I’ve managed to figure out so far

But, besides knowing where the pictures and videos that have been submitted were created you can find out who has sprinted to an early lead amongst those entrants who have, wisely or not, plunged into the fray!

Click the Picā„¢ to see today’s LEADERBOARD

Like yourself I’ve drawn a blank on most of those but I’d put that down to my lack of intelligence on anything history or cultural.

The beauty is someone else is going to have to put their toes in the water and claim the point eventually. Although you won’t know if it’s correct until the final scores you can either follow suit and copy knowing you’ve at least tied with that person for points.

As there’s no dronescene bonuses this year there’s no mad rush to beat your local competitors to targets, which would always have been my first ones to get on the board as soon as possible.

Which brings another thing to thing about.

Will people hold their nerve to start submitting entries now until the last possible dates whilst trying to maximise output from numerous attempts at different locations. Especially as there’s nothing in the rules saying you can’t go to a location that’s already been entered and literally just copy someone’s entry. At least if someone beat you to a dronescene entry you were back to the drawing board.

It’s certainly a different challenge this year replacing dronescene entries with cryptic clues and requires some extra thinking about when you actually start submitting entries. At least if you’re taking winning a cash prize seriously.

One thing I do hope that’s been taken on as feedback from last year is that there’s no rush by the committee to post final standings as soon as possible after the closing time. Take an evening, hell take 24 hours to make sure it’s correct and everyone’s entries count. Especially anyone submitting a minute before deadline.

The answer is Miss Scarlett killed Mrs White, who had an affair with Reverend Green, whilst Professor Plum hit Colonel Mustard with the poker

Or something like that…

(in the Library)

Morning, sorry to ask another question,
Ok, so I understand there will be :point_down:t2:

So for instance, illuminated building #1 360 degree illuminated #2 = so I’d claim 2 points for that but, if it was say lit up purple & I thought that was the colour & I try’d to claim 3 points, would I get disqualified from that round & all points for that round if I was wrong ? Or would I claim just 2 points knowing I’ve got the first 2 correct ? Leaving the committee to decide at the end of the challenge if I get an extra point for getting the colour right ? Sorry once again, thank-you

My understanding is that they will award you two points in here and you will find out at the end if you got the 3rd point.

You would not miss out on the two points that you claimed correctly.

Obviously if you uploaded a building that wasn’t illuminated, but had a flower bed on all four sides which was itself illuminated with a purple light to show off the flowers at night, you wouldn’t get any points as the building wasn’t illuminated.

Thanks Ian :+1:t2:

Please claim for all points @kirky , including the hidden bonus. Rest assured you will not be disqualified, well at least not for this, but you still have plenty of time to give us grounds though  . All points from the hidden bonus items will remain hidden until the final scores are tallied up at the end of the competition, but if you don’t claim them we can’t award them if you happen to figure out the answer correctly.

In the center there is a smaller structure that resembles a stone gazebo that houses the urn on a pedestal dedicated to Sir Francis Dashwood’s wife, Lady le Despencer. It, too, is an open structure that is cordoned off by wrought iron
