Devious? Scheming? You called?
Next year’s subjects and judges:
Well done to all who took part, and of course the winners at the top of the pile. It takes a serious amount of effort and time to get anywhere near top spot
Well done to the winners @DroneGeek @AdrianR and @john768 … maybe next year ill have more time but if anyone comes up with the equivalent of 7 f%£&ing trees i will not be pleased. Very distracting driving a 29ton truck and counting bloody trees
Just think yourself lucky you weren’t in a 7 tonne truck counting 29 'kin trees!
For those of you who are missing that competitive feeling - there is a far gentler challenge that will run every fortnight from September 15th. Judged by you with the subjects selected by you and showcasing your artistic skills it is different in every way from the BC but just as much fun - if not more
Check out the RTF Competition now - and vote for the first subject to kick off the new season!
Random Question? Does this challenge have an end date? I haven’t been on here in a while and only just came back on here last week due to working and now being on Annual Leave
With 1500 posts to read through it’s not easy to see start and finish dates.
The Challenge runs annually roughly coincident with the school summer holidays. We need a 45 week break in order to think up more ridiculously difficult subjects and bonuses
I can imagine what I’ll do is if it’s ok with permission is take some of the subjects to take photos of for practice
Feel free.
Maybe post in the daily image topic
Inspired by @macspite’s experiments with NotebookLM over on the F1 thread, I wondered what this would make of the 7th Birthday Challenge Thread.
So if you want to hear 2 American AI podcast hosts discussing the Grey Arrows Birthday Challenge, then give it a listen. There’s a very weird bit 6 minutes in where they start referring to each other as “Host Speaker” and “Expert Speaker” repeatedly in quite an off putting way!
They were particularly fascinated with the Austin 7 subject…

Thank you, expert contributor!
Very entertaining
The AI managed to ascribe deeper and more complex motives to ChallCom than our simple wish to make the tasks difficult but not impossible and accessible to people living around the UK.
How much of the thread did you offer as a sample for the AI to work on?
I just put in the link for the whole thread and it churned through over 1,400 posts in next to no time.
It started out quite well but think the “podcast” goes downhill a bit from 5 minutes in…
