Where/How best to attach your CAA Operator ID label?

Wait until you take your drone abroad to Europe and the USA and then need to display their numbers as well.

Oh and after you have added UK, EASA, FAA don’t forget to add your phone number in case it gets lost :joy:

Handwritten label + sellotape.

My label printer does barcode labels. Have attached this to my mini 2.

Where exactly, Chris?

It looks huge :scream:

Will grab a photo when it gets back as it’s in the boot of my wife’s car.

Very thin, don’t interfere with the compartment or cover. Same stuck on top of the Mini 2. Weight negligible.

Are they RFID tags? Isn’t that about as useful as labelling them with Braille?

Agreed, it’s in the regs somewhere :man_shrugging:

ANO 16 refers to displaying your operator id in accordance with Article 14(8) of the Implementing regulation (as adopted in the UK).

All that says is:

“8. The UAS operators shall display their registration number on every unmanned aircraft meeting the conditions described in paragraph 5.”

The CAA then give what they expect to see, which is the number in characters no less than 3mm high etc on their website, but I’ve had no luck finding where is may say that in the ANO or Implementing regs.

Probably more useful with Braille, as the chances of a blind person finding your drone rather than someone with a reader I would say is a better bet :joy:

I have mine in clear open view both on my handset controller and on my drones👍

I’m not out to hide anything from anyone! If approached I can show it to whoever it is and hopefully show I’m flying responsibly :white_check_mark:

On my handset its just above the led’s and on the drones it on the front arms😉

If I’m flying in an unauthorized area I’m quite happy to be held responsible as long as I’m spoken to in the correct non abusive manner😉if that happens trust me I’ll be first on the naughty step🤣but open conversation which is non confrontational I’m happy to enter into😎

Stay safe fly safe:+1::wink::sunglasses:

Every phone is a reader as long as it has NFC enabled and the recent dementia buddy tags publicity has increased awareness. They were also £3 for 10 and my wife told me to move them off the table, nothing else to tag

You should have tagged her :joy: that’s if you wanted her found if lost

Hmm, sounds like a challenge, shame it’s unlikely to be visible from 400’

I was always quite content to haver mine inside the battery compartment but after reading through this thread, decided to place on the exterior of my Mavic Air as well. It’s on the port side, simply using a printed and cut out label (text 4mm tall) with selotape trimmed to cover.

I wonder if the first motorists had similar conversations back in the early days of the motorcar?

“what? I have to label my horseless carriage? what a beastly idea!”

Out of interest… where on the drone have you affixed your operator ID? I have seen on the side or top. I put mine on the top but I believe that you can also put it in the battery area providing you can get to it without needing tools to remove the battery.

The reason I ask is that I deliberately fixed mine on the top so people can easily see the operator id number if they want. I feel better if they can identify me as I will only fly if I believe I am legal so making it easy for others to see my ID makes me feel less as if I am doing something wrong.

CAA advises label must be visible ……I think putting one in the battery compartment could be a good back up plan if a label may become dislodged……bought mine off eBay but I have a mavic air 2 located on top and 2 arms ….the minis size might be more challenging but obviously can be done

No they dont
