Where to fly drones in Banstead, Surrey

Hey guys,

Just signed up total beginner with my son on the drone scene.

Just wanted to know where are some good beginner places to fly our drone ? We are in Banstead, Surrey and we were thinking of Epsom Downs any ideas if this place is ok to fly ?

Have you seen our members map? (Click the burger-menu in the top right) You may find some pilots living near you. Feel free to add yourself to the members map too

Yes you should be able to fly there, there are no flight restrictions in that area.

Check local byelaws (usually signs are placed out), or your local council website.

Also I can’t seem to add my location am I not doing something correctly?

If you click the button under the magnifier it will take you to your current location, there is no means of ‘adding your location’ unless you want to share a location with the community, details here of how to do that as well as what all the layers mean.

Hopefully this hasn’t been discussed before. I was doing some late night Googling and found some FOI requests to what appears to be every county/District/Borough and parish Council plus some park authorities link here: I had a look through a lot of them and most said they didn’t have any bylaws prohibiting UAV use on Council land, some had some interesting take on the regulations and one said they had no UAV policy but didn’t allow drones which is an interesting stance and doesn’t make a lot…

For ease their response is:

Have no idea what I’m doing wrong but I have no button under the spy glass. I can’t seem to set a pin at all. Do I have to register or something?

Your login details from here is all you need, and it should know you are logged in on GADC so log you in automatically.

I work in Banstead and go past Epsom Downs on the way to work but I heard the white 4x4 will stop you using it there so I haven’t bothered. I’ve tended to go to the beach to fly mine. Hopefully you found somewhere, I heard Nonsuch park is good.
