I hope alls good now, I see it on YouTube last night about the app change, the guy who mentioned it usually knows his onions, so I posted about it in the fly app thread, then this morning I thought I hope he’s correct !
The RC finally updated this morning and the tripod mode settings are there
Yeah me too, tried a few times last night to no avail, but all fine this morning
You will be waiting a long time
Yep. Been flying this morning and all ok Fly app 1.9.9 RC 02.06 aircraft 1.05.
Strangely when I swapped in reserve batteries there was no usual short “update” ?
This only happens if DJI push a battery update, these are not an often occurrence
Cheers Sparky, couldn’t recall ever Not seeing the battery thing, admittedly only done about half a doz updates since owning the M3p, so much so that I always swap batteries around after a firmware update as a matter of course before going out.
The issue with the 1.9.8 version was the photo’s didn’t upload to the RC accessed album. They’ve fixed it with 1.9.9
I know,
some guy, which is probably bull crap now thinking about it, hope he’s not on here
He reckons the 1.9.8 put his mini 2 into fcc mode, I think he’s on something
Updated my RC controller and mini 3 pro yesterday, got the new items in the expo settings. But the drone wouldn’t take off. I know I live in a “authorisation zone” but I normally just tick the three boxes and click OK and all is good. Last evening I did that and it just kept coming up with the same thing time after time. Also I was sitting 2 feet from the drone but according to the controller it was slowly moving away from me. At one point it said it was 12 feet away, but neither the drone or I had moved.
Updated to the new update this morning and now it seems to work.
I know some people are having problems and I’ve seen screenshots of people installing just the drone firmware, but I got a notification for both at the same time - 1089Mb update - both installed without any problems. Haven’t had a chance to check it’s working OK (I have changed the settings), so just off to see if I can find a gap between the showers, before the gales arrive…
All seems to work as advertised - although as you can see by the water on the lake, I barely avoided the gales and didn’t stay out for long!
Can’t remember when I last had a battery update on any drone.
I reckon they will be added with the SDK this month
Yeah there was a bug in the one before that didn’t allow Air 2s users to take off maybe this also affected the mini 3 as well then
All updates done yesterday - smooth as butter I’m pleased to report…
Hopefully, on a warm/sunny day. it doesn’t melt like butter.
Hmmmmm… LOL
My 2p if that’s okay. I have read every thread on here relating to the RC and the M3P and despite having a super fast broadband the RC keep looking for updates and finished up each time with the little white server error box, whatever that is!
Someone mentioned (sorry, so many threads) downloading and using the DJI Assistant 2. Now MAC savvy folk will know that the latest MacOS will not unpack an app that is from an “internet” source other than official routes, but downloading it onto my laptop, copying it onto a USB stick and loading it onto desktop Mac mini it did open and install.
I then tried updating the RC with a USB cable into the Mac and sometimes it said there wasn’t an update, sometimes it listed the update but when I tried installing it it failed. But I repeated the process several times and eventually it downloaded, transmitted and installed successfully while I held my breath and prayed to my easter egg. An identical experience with the drone when plugged into the Mac and now that has the latest firmware installed.
All seems well and after rebooting RC and M3P it is showing the latest app version, aircraft and RC firmwares. The moral of my little saga, DJI updates seem flakey at the best of time with a mind of their own, but retrying did the trick. Hope this helps another newby like me.
and I kept the drone cool with a USB fan!
