To be fair to us, I read links to ‘drone laws in France’ and only with some detailed searching did I come across the geoportail.
Tbh it’s somewhat disingenuous that many, many sites give the list of the rules, which match the standard EU rules, without mentioning or linking to the official portal that paints a very different picture.
That truly does show a completely different picture to the available air space within which to legally fly in France. What I don’t get is how they can blockout such a huge swathe of the Bay of Biscay? That’s not theirs to govern surely, especially after the 12 mile territorial limit is passed
In my defence, this was the first place I looked. I scanned the entire Travel thread back to 2019 looking for relevant info for France - and missed that link.
There are unfortunately many more posts and comments that link to pages that mention ‘the rules’ and don’t specifically mention the geoportail - which is kind of vital info really.
Part of the problem is that people start yet another thread on France, or wherever, so that ALL the info isn’t in ONE place.
Admins try and keep everything on one topic in one place - but then some moan that their post has been moved.
Likewise, thread titles that don’t actually inform the reader correctly as to the content of the thread and help the search engine home people on on what they are looking for.
I went to France a couple of months ago and, having done the necessary research, took my drone over there. I managed some flights in Auray, La Rochelle and a couple of other places without any issues. The Geoporteil site is essential to figure out where you can fly.
